Default XKR Headlight Prob--Need Help

First, the driver side HID headlight was flickering off but would stay on after 2 or 3 switchings on......

Headlight problem now worse
After swapping HID bulbs across the front, the flickering moved to the passenger side! So I decided it was the bulb, bought a new one off the Internet, and it was fixed.........for about a week. Then suddenly, the passenger side, which was the "good" side quit. I assumed the bulb was junk, but tested it on driver's side and it works, so the passenger side that had no issue now does not work at all?. I wonder did I loosen something? Just starting to troubleshoot--fuses are both good--2diffrent bulbs work on driver's side....did the new bulb kill the ballast? All ideas are welcome and appreciated, before I remove the front bumper and try swapping the ballasts to test....

Thank You
Joe

I had similar issues on my drivers side hid. Bought new bulbs, didn't work. Swapped bulb sides, and realised it must be ballast. Bought a new ballast and all fine for a week, then started to flicker then switch off after 2 mins. Bit gutted then realised had spare bulbs, fitted new one and been fine ever since.

Cheapest option to check is switch ballast to see.

Thanks--update, I removed front bumper today, swapped the ballasts and problem moved across the car. I suppose it is possible, as I read on ebay, that maybe I purchased a cheap counterfeit lamp and it killed the ballast after 5 days?? I ordered a new ballast and bulb ($414) and assume this will fix it. By the way, it took several hours, but this is a DIY job.
