XKR hood vents repainted - simple & shiny
My entire 2000 XKR is due for a paint job or wrap next year, but the heat vents in the hood are 'toasted' from the heat and had become quite weird and dull looking. I popped them out, wiped them down with Windex, and sprayed them with an almost pure zinc spray paint that I use in my factory (to top-coat a cold galvanizing spray on metal parts). The paint is Roval brand MC high load zinc paint.
It is definitely more shiny than the XKR's standard silver color, but it looks better than what it was. It is not quite chrome.

This stuff works great on our production steel parts. We lay down some R first, then top coat with MC for looks.

I wasn't sure that I liked the vents being more shiny, at first. They do look better than the faded muck that was there before. What's funny is that more folks have been noticing the front of the car in parking lots and saying that they like the car. Well, I like it anyway. =)
