Presuming that you're in the UK, a quick search of google reveals
https://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/rec...efault.asp?tx=
Any Jag dealer will know if they've been done or not.

Engines going 'bang' are not a safety item.

How can you tell if its had its engine replaced? i went and looked at a few over the holidays and couldn't see anything in the engine bay. I've read that there is a identifying plaque in the engine bay but couldn't see anything? any clues where it is and what it looks like?

Calli, could you get us centered ? Say a little more about your perspective, are you looking for a new car, replacing a blown engine . . .
I think something is unstated, so it's hard to help you track down the answers mate.
Thanks john

Vehicle recalls in the UK are almost exclusively safety related and for Jaguar, this has been a rarity. Such repairs are mandatory.
As with most manufacturers, they usually only apply warranty repairs as a result of component failure or of customer complaint. A recall is unusual.
The only source of this data is Jaguar and no dealer is going to release the information except to the current owner of the vehicle.
This is the warranty history on my current XK:

Even with the data, it takes some detective work to interpret the program Codes and Causal Parts.
Far more relevant when assessing a potential purchase of a 10 year old Jaguar is a comprehensive service history, preferably backed up with a thick file of receipts.

The Nikasil engines stopped production in 2000 - that was 17 years ago. Any that are still running are up to 20 years old, so I don't think I would be worrying too much about Nikasil now.
Thanks Johnken!
