Hi All, I have a 4.0 Engine out of a 2001 XKR that I had shipped from the UK to Perth in Western Australia. Whilst in transit the Rocker cover got smashed and I am trying to find a replacement if anyone can help. To add to this this engine 6 speed auto gearbox and Supercharger that I have are now surplus to requirements (Long Story) so will be looking to sell them when I get it fixed.
Not sure what it would be worth this side of the world would be happy just to recover costs.

your best bet is to find a company that will ship internationally, try britishparts.uk online, they ship to the US, maybe even Aussie country.

What jochem SHOULD have said, if he was thinking straight, was that its a big risk to purchase such expensive parts from so far away, to a member that just signed up. Now if you had been around for say...6 months and built a decent reputation around the forums, the risk declines. Recouping your money quick may be difficult unless you sell them to a indy shop there...make some contacts, get some information about your parts, let them inspect them, and maybe in a month or two, you'll get a call when that tranny needs swapped into another jag...as its used in 2003-2008 S-types and XJs from 2004 to MY 2006, not just the xk8 n xkr of the same era.

 

Not quite what I expected!! I just bought my first Jag XKR Conv. I found this forum and it was great to see so many people willing to help each other out. I was actually looking for help trying to find a Rocker Cover and just added the engine as an after though. If anyone is actually stupid enough JOCHEM to send that kind of money for something they have not checked into then they need their head examined. Thank you H20boy for your help I was not aware that the engine fitted all the the other models.

 

I'm assuming from your question that there's no hope of claiming for the breakage on the shipping agent?

If you're willing to take a chance on importing from the UK again, used ones are usually available from the specialist Jag breakers here or sometimes on eBay UK and could make a good saving over the cost of a new part.

and don't forget XKRacer (he's a member here) he seems to have a spare of everything on these xk8/rs. He'll ship to anywhere if you cover the shipping...whatever that might be. Might be worth a PM to him to inquire if he has a cover.
