Default XKR Stirling Moss

Anybody on the board owns or have seen an XKR Stirling Moss?

http://www.xkec.co.uk/home/History/stirling.php

I googled it and found one example that was modded with scissor doors - why .... ?

The car showroom in the picture is Imperial Motors in Lake Bluff, IL.

These cars were the subject of considerable discussion several years ago.

It was agreed that the Horsepower claims were drastically overstated and not verifiable.

I always thought the red/green stripes were pretty cool...maybe I'll throw some decals on the 03 and see if she can imitate greatness...with the throttle cable adjustment, its GOT to be pushing 440hp...

It would look nicer without the red stripes. I'm not a fan of these special edition cars... they are usually just overpriced cosmetic upgrades.

I was not aware of such an edition , labelling a ride with a legendary racer's name is a good idea too

Expensive label (or paint) though...

There hasn't been an edition like this from Jaguar, so it is an idea from someone (or dealer) in the states. It seems that the estimated flywheel hp of 466 was just by inflating the drive train loss to 29% or so, it was more close to stock. The only modification made was a K&N filter and a Borla exhuast (back then when it was on ebay).

There's one for sale now, ebay; scissor doors and gawd awful chrome wheels. I'd post a pic but I'm using a phone to write this.

The seller wants $79k for it - he's smokin' crack!

I guess it is worth a few thousand more than "typical" due to the low miles alone but $79K because it is a so-called collector edition seems excessive.

No, unless Toronto can support palm trees. I think it's in FL. Either way this thing is fake beyond fake, and if earlier posts are accurate, it was never a factory endorsed edition in the first place.

I'm wondering if the same is true for the 'black cat' editions I've seen advertised now and then also. The same seller has one of those listed on eBay last I looked.

Must be AZ. Check the mountains in the background. No mountains in FL. Also, the palms appear to be dried out, lol.

And there I was thinking that there was a joke being made in reference to the comment, "he's smoking crack" and Toronto's crack smoking mayor as it is obviously not in Toronto.

To my knowledge the only Jaguar special/limited editions were the 100 and 400 XKs all the others were "dealer" editions, there is the Victory which was US only, here in the UK, that was it

I think in 2003 they had the special Portfolio editions that were, again, just basically different paint and trim.

The Sterling Moss cars were done thru the marketing dept here in the US. I was told they originally not going to be sold.

One of these was on ebay about a year or so ago. As I remember it was for sale in Beverly Hills and was supposedly originally owned by Steve McQueen.
