XKR through tunnel and 4.5 sec 0-60
So I finally made a short movie through a tunnel.
Aperently it wasn't that easy to hold the camera in one hand and driving with the other.
Anyway, I made a few accelaration clips as well and it turns out my car is doing 0-60 mile in 4.5 sec
0-90 mile in slightly less than 8 seconds
The run through the tunnel gave some wheel spin at the start but the clip afterwards went better.
by the way, I revved the engine slightly with foot on the brake then release the break and go for it.

@Mountaincat, I'm sorry to say but No, it is clearly 0-100 km/h just check with your stopwatch.
don't start when the rev counter goes up but only when I release the break.
But as I wrote in another post, mine appears to be a lot quicker than other XKR's I've driven. and yes mine is a 4.0, not a 4.2 which I believe has a lower rev limit.

Don't want to spoil the fun, but I count more than 5 seconds, as the speedo is not accurate (could be about 4% higher), you can't clock it exactly on 100. If you really want to know the speed you need to have a more accurate measurement, like with a GTECH for instance. Better check your “check engine”, if you don’t know what could be wrong, it could be a risk to drive full power...

Avos, I have got slightly wider and thus bigger rear wheels. Measuring with the gps the odometer is spot on. I've done quite a number of runs and they are all well below 5 seconds when I don't have wheelspin. Check my older video where I go from 160-220 pretty fast as well.
Check engine light is on giving "cat efficiency below tresshold'. Did reset it a while ago but came on again but can,t be really bothered.

I think(I'm not absolutly sure.) the factory 1/4 mile speeds for the 4.0 XKR was 13.5 seconds. But a lot of the magazine tests times where faster around 13 seconds or less. I think the one of the variables might be tire size and grip. Also a lot of the 0-60 speeds were quicker than Jaguars. I don't think your speeds are unusual for your car. Go to some of the auto mag sites and look it up. Especially the cars with the 20" tires.

Would still be careful with it, as for one the specific error will inhibit other errors like misfires for instance and secondly there could always popup another error which you will not know about. Might be a good opportunity to swap to sports catalysts ;-)

J00: At least you don't have to get rid of it when the ash tray's get full now.....nice color combo....any photos of it Happy in front of the Casino with the Super Model Wife, hopefully off crutches now, or in front of the harbor?
RC: I would have thought that 20" wheels would make the acceleration slower....most forums talk about how much quicker cars are with smaller wheels....faster on the top end though.
Avos: What are 'sport catalysts', what is the benefit, will they pass Tech inspections and how much are they?
cheers,
jj

@Avos, if you've got some info on where to get some high flow cats, that would be helpful.
So far I haven't had the time to look into the real cause but fuel trims and timing are fine so it could well be the catalitic converter in this case.
Attached some photos from last weekend.
By the way, there is no color difference between the door and the rear fender. I didn't fully close the door when I took the photo.

In combination with the stock exhaust a sport cat (200 cell) will give more sound and a tad more performance.
I think nameless offers also sports catalysts, but you need to check with them (also if theirs will pass emission tests). I use a more expensive one from Larini bought via EAJP in the UK. So far I have had 2 yearly emission tests which I was able to pass, and there they measure the CO (must be <3.5%) and Lambda of 1 + 0.03 max between 2500-3200 rpm.
20 "wheels are heavier (have more inertia) then smaller wheels, so it will be a tad slower to bring up to speed compared to smaller ones. Have just bought some summer tires from Michelin, the Pilot Super Sport, they are a bit lighter ;-)
What tire size do you actually have?
