Having recently completed the install of the R1 brakes all around, they sit well behind the Montreal’s on my 03’ SV8.

Assuming nobody has been in there before, this pic has 2 out of 3 bolts shown. They’re a T30 Torx.

I took this from the passenger side and this is the location of the electrical connectors for both of the drivers side oxygen sensor.

That connector would be for the CATS (electronic shock absorbers) suspension which the original poster does not have. This is the rear yaw sensor.

You have to disconnect this plastic pipe ***and it will likely break*** if it’s the original one and you aren’t careful. There is a small hole inside that valve cover that needs to be cleared out with a particular size drill bit.

I carefully use one of these small flathead screwdrivers to insert at that connection and rotate the screwdriver handle *not the pipe* to gently unseat the pipe from the valve cover.

I searched for a timing cover gasket for a 2005 XJ with a 4.2 and the above gasket showed fitting for it.

You need to disconnect the main electrical connector from the abs module. Please pardon the chicken scratch writing. Pins 3 & 4 of the main abs connector go to one front sensor as does pins 17 & 18 go to the other. I’m not 100% sure what the ohms should be but, they should be reading relatively close. You may even have to get the front wheels off the ground so you or an assistant could turn the wheels by the front and see what the resistance does on both sides.

This is the octopus hose or rear heater hose. Where this plastic coupler meets the metal pipe, it’s not uncommon for these to leak directly on top of the hot catalytic converter and of course evaporate which won’t make it to the ground. I recommend using the mirror to see on the underside of this coupler to see if there’s any residue there. You may also see some residue on top of the cat. Take a few pix if you aren’t sure.

The orange circle is that same coupler from above just as a reference.

The red circle (much different than John Wick 🤪) is a plastic one way valve that’s located directly on top of the transmission. It’s also not uncommon for them to split and leak coolant on the hot transmission and evaporate before reaching the ground.

The green circle is where a plastic 3 way tee junction is and it’s also a common failure point.

The red circle is the intake of that little fan. I *think* the aspirator is primarily for the “auto” in the climate control.

If you really want to replace your shocks, these are what you need. It is my understanding that the green Bilstein shocks (electronic or not) are the sport ones whereas the black ones are comfort shocks. I don’t personally think you need them on such a low mileage car but, I’m not there to put eyes on them either.

These were all bright white led’s including the odometer. I suppose if you were to use a bright red in your odometer that it would be overpowering enough to make the digits red also.

LCA1640AE Crankshaft position sensor located underneath the engine at the 6 o’clock position.

You have an AJ26 (early V8) and this is the one you’ll need so the £200 sounds about right. The later AJ27 engines have a 2 pin sensor only and those are cheap and NOT interchangeable.

I think I’ve only replaced 1 or 2 at most so I’d be suspect on just throwing a sensor at it. Did they get a code for the CPS? Maybe they should check for fuel pressure at the rail. Does it have enough fuel in the tank
