Default Ceramic Pro (or similar) check

Having bought my R used with 4K miles on it, I am planning on having Ceramic Pro done in the next couple of weeks or so. Lately, when it has gotten a little dusty or dirty, and I don't have time for a full wash and detail, I've taken it to a car wash and have sprayed it myself with a pressure wand on just the rinse setting, and I swear it's like showroom clean.

I am wondering if the previous owner had some kind of coating on it when they bought it. Is there any way to tell if this has been done? I don't guess it would hurt to have it done again if that is the case, as that would just add more coats of CP to what exists already?

A good way to tell is use any good light source and look at the finish at an angle. Just look for swirls or fine scratches, depending on the color it may have a good shine but no depth. Also while its clean just run your hand across it, it should be totally smooth.

Of course if its black you'll see the swirls a mile away.

One other thing, does water just run off the car? With the Ceramic Pro water literally just runs off the car except for a few pools of water.

Every morning I have to clean concrete dust off my car due to the construction in my building. I just use a water less car wash and a good quality microfiber and it takes 10 minutes. If it wasn't for the Ceramic Pro or similar coating it would be scratched.

Some snowbird that's been gone all summer left his SLS here with no cover and it has 1/4" if concrete all over it.

It beads up pretty well. I will try to see how a hose rolls off on it. I did notice some slight scratches on the hood, which makes me think that if it was coated, it wasn't paint corrected first, or it hasnt been coated..

Or the coating may be scratched, you use a mild paint cleaner to see if it comes out. I scratched mine yesterday as I grabbed the wrong cloth but it came out with a quick hand buff.

How did you get the scratch out? I have a small scratch and I tried rubbing it with a micro fiber cloth but it did not seem to change anything.
