Hi chaps,
glad everybody is still using the WDS, it's a long story but I had the oppertunity to purchase a ford WDS station, which I did then got some Jaguar software from XJGUY, now the set is runnung ok, thing is I was only after the software to fix my INDI's set which he had dropped and buggerred up the hard drive anyway he was sorted out.
In my purchase I did not recieve any cables but that was OK as my INDI let me use his.Now over the weekend last some poor soul with no regards to anybodies rights etc decided to liberate his workshop of all his kit, luckily they were distubed but not before they had thieved the WDS, compressor , half his toolchest Oh and next doors quad bike, so if you are offered a WDS in or around BOSTON ENGLAND please let the police know or PM me (so we can cut the fingers off the B******s)ALSO I myself have a machine with no cables, Bit like camera and no film or gun without ammo so if any kind soul out there knows where I might be able to obtain at least the battery cable (A204) and the DLC cable (B203) it would be appreciated, i have tried Teradyne but as yet no reply.
All the best guys

I have 3 PTUs and one docking station. I have the A204 and B280 as well as the B203.
I still keep my eyes out for A204 cables. They used to be sold on eBay but I have not seen one in the U.S. for a long time. The B203 will work for the newer cars even though the PTU prefers the B280. You NEED the B203 for the older cars.
I'll buy any I see and I will post them here for those that need them.

I DO NOT have an extra set of cables. The Ford B280 (or some other blue end cable, maybe B259??)) will work for the LATER Jaguars (2003 onward??)
The 2 MOST IMPORTANT ones are B204 and B203.
I have ONE set of cables but have 3 PTUs with ONE docking station.
I keep 6 or 7 HDDs with Ford on 2 & Jaguar on the rest as backup spares.
Windows 98 crashes ALOT!!!!!!

That unit looks like a good deal if you can find a B203 and if it already comes with A204.
I have rebuilt 3 battery packs so far.

I promise I won't 'poke you in the nose'. Just keep an eye out for cables that are required for Jaguar.
The high tension lead sets are useless for Jaguar but can be used for Ford. I see them for sale all the time. I have a set of those but never used them. I also have the pressure sensor cable that I have never used.

I would suggest a 4.3gb or larger HDD for Jaguar CD43.
I tried to load it on a Ford 2.4gb HDD and it ran out of disc space. (never completed loading)
The battery pack must be working correctly. If you get error 2217, the software will not load, You will get an error message before it completes the loading.
xjrguy might be able to upload to the internet. That will be the fastest way to get you going.

i have the software cd 42,43 and ghost disc now
i can setup the ghost disc and i get prompted to remove the ghost disc and push red and green button at once, after that wds reboot and freezes at win 98 logo
i can only boot it in safe mode win 98
at the moment i do not have a ps2 mouse to make any changes , only a ps2 keyboard
any advice why it freezes in win 98 boot screen?
battery pack seems to be dead as far as i could figure out

i removed the battery pack and win 98 loaded properly, but now i get the above mentioned error code while installing the software
i ordered new batteries today and will resolder the pack and have a new try
another thing i noticed is that the touchscreen doesn´t seem to work, when you are prompted to calibrate it with touching the crosses nothing happens....
it doesn´t react on touching it with the fingertips
regards Thorsten

update:
touchscreen is now working and the software is completely installed, as well as a ps2 mouse is attached to the system now, also working
the only issue that is left over is the ff2217 code, caused by dead battery pack...so i have to wait for the new batteries to arrive and see if it works then
thanks so far

Discovered something interesting....
I picked up a VMM recently and it appears that the battery cable for the VMM is the same as the battery cable for the WDS. They look to be more or less the same design and the plug connectors are the same too.
Different part numbers on the plugs though.
The WDS cable is A-204, 418-F232, the VMM is A-401, 078-00601
I did not try powering the WDS with the VMM cable, but it plugs in ok
EDIT and the pinouts are the same too!
You can still buy the VMM battery cable as a spare part from Bosch & Snap-On, so if they are compatible it might be another option if people are struggling to find one.

my batteries arrived yesterday, i soldered them together just the way the originals were
voltage reading from the battery pack is 12 volts, although i used 8x 1.2 volt cells, what in my opinion must be 9.6 volts ?
i put them in the ptu and i started fine without the 2217 error but then it wanted to recondition the batteries , i startet thatand after 10 minutes the ptu completely shut off, and red light came on, could start it again after i removed the battery pack again
what is the function of that little circuit board attached to battery pack? could this be defective?
there is nothing shortened and the battery pack still reads 12 volts with a digital multi meter
sometimes when i start the ptu the touchscreen is not working, other times it is..could that be a driver problem, because i have also a mouse connected to the system?
