Default one shot cooling system bleed

The advice below presumes that the cooling system is in proper
operating order. That is, the bleed pipes are arranged properly,
the thermostat is operating without being slow, the temperature
sensor is not defective, etc. If not, they need attention first.

The cooling systems of certain Jaguar models are notorious for being
difficult to bleed. It often has to be done multiple times to achieve
a air free system.

But, there is an easy way. It involves one special item from Walmart.

It's a plastic "coolant funnel".

Look for the one that has a short stubby wide outlet. It just happens
to fit the header tank outlet perfectly.

To bleed your cooling system on a X300/X308/X100:

- remove hex plug on top of SC intercooler or the thermostat
tower as applicable

- remove pressure cap

- insert funnel and check that you have the one that happens
to exactly fit the neck

- add as much coolant as possible to relieve as much air as
possible

- reinstall hex plugh on top of SC intercooler or the thermostat
tower as applicable

- add three more inches of coolant to the funnel

- turn heater and interior fan to max

- start engine

- monitor coolant level as air moves to the header tank and exits
through the funnel, adding coolant as required to maintain two
inches of coolant above the neck

- let engine idle and reach full operating temperature so that coolant
is also flowing through the radiator and heater cores

- when satisfied that engine is at operating temperature and no more
bubbles are exiting through the neck ....

- turn off engine

- turn key back to run position without starting engine to keep auxillary
pumps running

- wait for coolant and engine to cool

- as cooling continues, the excess coolant will be drawn into the system,
probably all of it if there was two inches of coolant above the neck

- once the coolant has been drawn into the engine, remove funnel and
install pressure cap

The secret is the funnel because it allows the coolant to be maintained
above the level of the neck.

This method almost guarantees a one shot bleed.
