How to build repair guide.

How to build repair guide.
Gentlemen!
I am building a post on how to troubleshoot the very common charging/starting/dead battery issues that the X308 has. I have seen many new members with this problem, and rather than go through it every time, I'd like to send them to one place with everything they need.
At work, I'd build a Power Point and go slide by slide with pictures, diagrams and text. But what's the best format for use on the forum?
Thanks

Rob,
That's my format choice for work purposes but it's an environment where I know exactly what hardware/software is in use.
For the forum, I generally build in MSWord and then convert to PDF format. No reason not to do the same from PP.
Regardless of what members are using to connect to the forum, PDF is almost certain to open directly or can be downloaded and then opened.

OK, here it is, warts and all. Mods, put it where you want, in whatever form. Of course it is nice if myself and others can easily direct members to it, preferably with a link, rather than a vague "it's in such and such a place" directions.

That's odd, I downloaded/uploaded on the 18th Jan.
I'll recheck to see where it went.
OK, Gen Tech/Download Index/X308/DIY Files & Multimedia/X308 Electrical Trouble Shooting

You should be able to add this link in your signature.

Hi guys,
I've revised this presentation, it's Revision 2.0. It's in Power Point unfortunately, if that's an issue I can convert it tomorrow.

Can the link be updated on the forum?
Also, I forget how I got the link into my signature, I want to make sure it's the new version.
Thanks

Rob,
Excellent. I don't see PowerPoint being an issue as the viewer is freely available for download to run on almost any operating system.
One suggestion for easier version control. How about adding the revision number and date on the first page?
I've shown it here in the bottom right corner and red text just to highlight it as an example.
The current version is in General Tech Help:
/Download Index/X308/DIY Files & Multimedia/X308 Electrical Trouble Shooting
This is where your Signature link points. We can sort that out once the new file is uploaded to the forum MediaFire account..

Graham,
I prettied it up a bit, added a revision status to every page, and converted it to pdf, found here:

Rob,
I've uploaded it to the forum MediaFire account in General Tech Help:
/Download Index/X308/DIY Files & Multimedia/X308 Electrical Trouble Shooting Rev. 2.1.pdf
Here is a direct link to it:
http://www.mediafire.com/view/kdl3t7...g_Rev._2.1.pdf
You can navigate to this and setup a new link in your Signature. I'll not remove the original until you are happy the new one is in place and working.

The new one is in place, but's there's something funny going on. I was trying to be cute with the background picture of my Jag, but for some reason it is "tiled" showing 4 pictures instead of one.
It looks ok in the RH column, though.
Anyway, close enough, I'll update my signature link.
Thanks
