Mods: Extend editing times?

Mods: Extend editing times?
Is there any way to extend the editing times of a post? Other forums I belong to have ability to edit your original post indefinitely. This is good for corrections especially on DIY posts.
I'd like to edit one of my DIY posts:

Just for some minor corrections.
Thank you!

The unrestricted edit facility was removed when some members started re-inventing history!
If a subsequent post pointed out errors or criticised them, they were going back and editing the original which often made the thread illogical and impossible to follow.
I agree it's unfortunate with a detailed DIY thread like yours where a genuine edit is needed but there's no way to differentiate.
Edit is available for approximately 20 minutes to allow checking and correcting and in the vast majority of cases this is adequate.
If there are factual errors or omissions in your original post which need correcting, any of the Mod team can help you with this.

On another forum, a member posted what was said to be a
great tutorial on a method of refreshing the a-frame bushings.
At some point, he edited his post to remove all pictures and
text. The thread had a great deal of followup discussion about
the original post, but the original post was missing. Very
awkward reading.
ps. my pet wish is for threads showing no activity after 90 days
to be auto closed. this would greatly reduce necro threads.
