Default 2000-2002 S-Type question about shifting to park.

Can someone test this out? If you shift your car to park, do your door locks automatically unlock? I believe mine did that before but doesn't do this anymore.

Thanks for your confirmation.
If anyone knows how to program this let me know.

The other thing is that when I lock the doors I get no horn chirp anymore (pushing the lock button on my remote twice). My horn still works as the alarm will go off and when I honk the horn. I believe the lights still blink though.

Neither my '01 nor my '03 S-type doors unlock simply by shifting to park. They unlock when I open a front door or I manually unlock either of the front doors.

And also there is not supposed to be a horn sound when locking/unlocking.

Some of this stuff is configurable in IDS on some of the models. (I'm not sure anyone really cares, though!)

on my 2002, if I push the lock button on my fob (twice) I will get two quick blips of the horn and park lights. If I am in park, and shift to reverse or drive, all doors lock. They stay in that status until I am in Park again and pull my door latch to get out, then all unlock.

Interesting. Mine need to be going about 4mph to auto-lock the doors.

My '02 behaves like yours. Movement auto locks the doors. One push of the key fob locks doors, another push sets alarm, blinks the lights and sounds horn. Unlock is only by combo of Park AND opening drivers door. No change in 10 years that we've had it. I assumed these settings were not changeable. Besides, I'm used to it by now.

My '02 is the same way. It does have one more cool function, though. It has Neighborhood Sensitive Power Door Locks(tm). If I've unlocked the doors after the initial movement-actuated automatic locking, and then approach a bad part of town, the doors will automatically lock again. (VBSEG)

Instead of "auto lock," for bad neighborhoods, how about "auto Glock?" Unfortunately I have the Premium Sound system, that you can't easily upgrade to a navigation unit....so "auto Glock" cannot be deployed by the vehicle using GPS.
