Happy New Year! Today was the first Katie's Cars & Coffee event of the new year. It was cloudy and cold (just at 32F), but no rain by the time I arrived at 5:45AM. Lots of 'civilian' cars there when I got there - probably from Friday night. The rain held off... until about 7:00AM. The mist had turned into light rain by the time I had to leave for work at 7:30AM, but there was still a fairly good crowd by then.

Today was not what you'd call ideal cars & coffee conditions. The weather started out in the high-teens, and dropped down to the mid-teens as the morning wore on. Plenty of residual salt on the roads. Lots of ice patches on the Katie's lot.
The result? Not a huge turnout, but plenty of hardy souls, up for talking about cars - even if they brought their 'weather' vehicles.
Me? I was not going to bring the Lotus or the Jaguar out, with the amount of salt all over. As it happens, my wife's Smart threw a code on the way home from work Friday afternoon, so we had a Mercedes C250 rental from the dealership. What's the best foul-weather car? Somebody else's!
As usual during bad weather, lots of German cars! When I went home around 8:15AM, I saw an XK Coupe heading up 193 towards Katie's.

It was raining lightly, and 33F this morning. That meant a late turnout, and attendance was a little sparse. Still, more than a dozen hard-core car fanatics were there by 8:00AM. The salt and the weather generally mean very few interesting cars, but nothing can keep the regulars from showing up to at least talk about cars. One thing I have learned; it will take some very bad conditions to keep people away from this place two weeks in a row!
The first picture is the lot at 8:30AM.

Clear and COLD - it was 19F when I arrived at Katie's this morning. Even when I left, at about 8:30AM, it was not out of the 20's. Did it keep some people away? Sure. Was it a bust? Not even close! The last picture is the lot at 8:08AM. We even had two motorcycle riders, one of whom arrived before 6:00AM.
As often happens during the winter, a lot of German cars. I had the only Jaguar there, but there were two Range Rover Sports, and a Land Rover.

Very good weather, considering it's the first week of February. Dry roads and most of the salt is off the streets. A good turnout at Katie's - we had an F-Type Coupe there today, Jeff was there in his V12 E-Type, and Bobert brought his XKR Coupe as I was leaving. I expect more cars Sunday at Kohl's, since it will be at least 10 degrees warmer.

Valentine's Day, 2015. It was cold; mid-twenties when I arrived, barely 30 when I left just before 9:00AM. Still, no wind or rain, so it was not bad at all. A fair number of cars and people, the cars being largely German. (My Jaguar was the only British car I saw this morning.) There was a brand-new M4 there, brought by a dealer.

This morning, Katie's was a case study of a favorite theme of mine - "Will there be a Cars & Coffee this weekend?" Today had many of the features that cause people to stay away:
1.) It was cold... 11 degrees when I arrived at Katie's at 6:15AM. (Yes, I slept in a bit.)
2.) There was a lot of salt on the streets. (Salt is like kryptonite to exotic car owners.)
3.) The forecast threatened snow and freezing rain, as early as 9:00AM.
Regardless of the above three facts, we had a reasonable turnout of people, at Katie's to talk about cars. My shot of the lot at 7:19AM shows that the trucks and SUVs outnumber cars. Still, it doesn't matter what car you drive, it's largely a social gathering.
One thing I have experienced, several times - if we have another week or two of similar conditions, attendance will increase, because people get tired of sitting at home.

It was 14F this morning. Plenty of salt on the roads, and some snow & ice left over from Thursday. Still, Ron showed up in his Corvette twin turbo. A decent turnout of Car Guys today, but mostly driving more 'ordinary' vehicles. Can we PLEASE be finished with winter now?

A rainy Saturday normally means an empty parking lot, but a group of friends used Katie's as a starting point for going up to Hershey. The AACA Museum there has an exhibit, Lotus: The Art of Lightness, running thru April 26th - Lotus: The Art of Lightness | AACA Museum
Duncan, Rochel & their 2 kids drove their XJ up to Hershey, while several others drove our Lotus. Driving British cars in the rain!

The last Saturday of March, and (we hope) the last of the cold weather. Today was cold and clear, 30F when we arrived. Still, the heavy rains this week washed away all the salt, and people came out, because we're ALL READY FOR SPRING!
Several Jaguars in attendance today!
