Default Jag Tech in the Washington DC area?

Can anyone recommend a good Jaguare repair shop in the DC, MD, VA area. I live in N. Va so that would be the best. Thanks, Jon '06 XKR

Hi govatos,

Intersport
1524 Spring Hill Rd Unit H
McLean VA
703-242-8680

I used them before and fairly reasonable. They also have a shuttle if you are within a few miles of them.

Foreign Car Service
501 Bashford Lane
Alexandria, VA
703-549-4100

Haven't used them

Eurasian Service Center
8501-B Tyco Rd
McLean VA
703-893-3045

They do work on Jags, but I think Intersport is better.

There is a place specializing in Jaguars on Route 29 about a mile or so east of Gallows Road, but I don't remember the name off-hand. If you are in the area, you can stop and check it out.

govatos, if you are looking to do some basic work, come on down to southern Maryland. I live down there and am always working on vehicles. That will give you a chance to see what is up with your kitty and be able to see exactly what is going on. Now, I won't do complete engine rebuilds and stuff like that, but items like brake work, spark plug changes, and what not I can do. As for local shops, I haven't had a need to use any to give you any feedback.

I haven't used them yet, but their "pedigree" sounds great:

Yes, that was really a joke from a newbie.

Thermo,

Since being in MD, have you heard of any local Jag Techs? My XK8 stalled out a while ago and wont turn over. I had one shade tree mechanic look at it and he admitted he didn't know Jags. I live in Cheltenham, MD which is north of Waldorf, MD and south of Upper Marlboro, MD.

I've used these folks since 1978 and trust them completely. Ask for Rob:

Overseas Imports

703-534-5400

101 Gordon Rd
Falls Church, VA 22046

They are behind Don Beyer Volvo

I live on the Hill and recently took my car into Star Auto on New York Ave. Granted, not the best part of town, but they did $1400 worth of work and thus far (knock on wood) the car is solid. All told, the dealer in Tysons wanted over $2K. They were very friendly, drove me back to the metro after I dropped my car off on a Monday morning. They were proactive in calling me back and gave me updates on all the work. There aren't many other places in the District, I called many shops and receives a polite "nope, don't work on Jags" response. Star Auto only works on Jags, BMWs, and Mercedes-Benz. Worth a shot anyway.

You have one in your back yard Loudoun Auto Repair on Parker Ct. When he gives you a price tell him Gus said that is ridiculous.

arestroations, welcome to the forums. I think you will find a lot of useful information here. Also, don't forget to stop by the "New Member" forums and introduce yourself to the whole group. I think you will find that rather rewarding.

As for your issue, from what you are describing, the "covered area" that you are describing sounds a lot like a catalytic converter to me. I would recommend taking it to a quality exhaust shop (not Midas, but someone that only does exhaust) and see what they say. I am venturing to guess that they are going to say that your catalytic convert is shot and you need a new one. The shop you stop by should be able to do that for you no problem. If at all possible, I would recommend going with a generic one. The need to get a Jaguar cat is not needed. That should save you some money too. Granted, this is still going to be a pricy fix (plan on about $400 if it is what I think it is).

So, sit back, grab a cup of Joe and enjoy. You will meet lots of interesting people here and most of us love to have fun too.

Doug, you called my house. What you need? I have tried calling the number you left, but no one answered. I'll see what I can do for you.

+1 I've been using them for 10 years and have never had a complaint.

Boley, what do you have in mind? I am willing to give anything a shot. While I am not an XJS heavy person, I am sure I can get my way around the car and do what you need. If I think it is beyond what I can do, I will say so before getting too far into it.

This thread needs moving to the Mid-Atlantic subforum!

Surprised to read that Overseas Imports is still in business! Many years ago I took my XJ6C there a few times. The owner was a good smart guy who was hands-on and knew his stuff. Some of his subordinates, not so much. I'm sure they've moved on...

I also had good experiences with these guys with my Mercedes 3.5

Any recommendations for a Jaguar mechanic not too far from Baltimore, MD? Thanks.

Thermo,

I am not new to the forum but a recent REGISTERED member. I am also in the area and would like to get in touch with you regarding my XJ8.

Thank You

Anyone else have suggestions or recent reviews on Local DMV Auto Shops?

I'm in Washington DC but wouldn't mind having it towed out to MD or VA...
