Couple of posts, first says the discount is only applied if you add to basket

Bargain Front Discs and Pads

Brake & Disc Comination - Can't afford EBC discs!

Both mention various pads

Consider changing the brake fluid, maybe twice with an interval to get any fluid which may stay in the ABS system after the initial change

Paul, for how you drive, you really don't need anything really fancy. I will admit knowing that if you need to brake heavily, the brake system will be up for the job. But, the factory brake system will do more than adequately. Besides, the other question that you have to answer is if you can stop "on a dime", can the driver behind you also stop that fast? In most cases, the X-Type is going to out brake most vehicles on the road in stock trim.

ANother tidbit that you might find of interest is the "whirring" that happens with slotted rotors. I had slotted/cross drilled rotors on my X-Type and the first stop or two in the morning and any really hard braking there after, I was met with a whirring sound. This is a common sound with the slotted rotors. Is it something that is going to be in your face loud. By no means. BUt, if you want that whisper quiet ride, then this is not going to help achieve that.

I ran the slotted/cross drilled rotors for 60K miles using the same rotors. So, if you are worried about life, anything you buy for the car should last you a long, long time. The pads lasted me to beyond 50K miles.

If you look on e-bay, you can find complete rotor/pad setups for all 4 tires for under $200. Doing the install is pretty easy and straight forward.

I would say to do some looking around and see what you can find and its price. I don't think you are going to go wrong with anything you buy.

Slotted/drilled, whatever does NOT shorten stopping distance in street driven cars, it's a 'bling' thing only.
