jaguar solar attenuating glass

jaguar solar attenuating glass/Infrared reflective glass
Anyone know how to positively identify if our XE's have jaguar solar attenuating glass or not? I see if you build it on the Jaguar site in the UK builder it pops up but not i the USA builder.
Anyone have access to that site TOPix or something where we can place our VIN to see if it was built in or not?
The only thing I can find on the USA Jaguar site is if you have the HUD then it says: Please note, this feature requires Infrared reflective glass.
Nowhere does it mention the Solar or even with the heated windshield it doesn't mention anything about the glass layer.
I have the HUD but I do NOT have the Heated Windshield option so i am unsure if my V1 Radar/ Toll Tag will work or not. I don't want to place it in the top DOT matrix areas either so I would like to research the facts if possible.
I am hoping this thread will help others in the future searches.

Well, I noticed last night while driving a thin line/edge that looks like a film like clear tint that covers the entire windshield except fort he dotted blacked area up by the mirror. So I am assuming my car has one of these 2 items mentioned since I can see the outline of something where the glass meets the dotted black area?
I called my dealer and they have no clue at all or how to find out but I see this topic spoken about on many other forums for Jaguar/Range Rover.

My XE has neither the HUD nor the heated windshield. However, even without those features I've been unable to use my EZPass on the car. I even ordered and installed a new EZPass. I tried various spots on the windshield, all without success. The only spot I did not try was the area with black dots next to the mirror mount, because I figured the dots might interfere with the transponder signal. Finally, in desperation, I moved the EZPass onto the black dots... it then worked perfectly!
I had no such problems with my Valentine One. It worked just fine below the mirror mount.

UPDATE: I drove 300 miles and passed all kinds of cops with radar/laser on as well as many stores with radar door sensors and my V1 never picks up from the front. Always the side and the rear. I guess my nice install is coming out now. Maybe I will do a remote type radar in the future since no portable unit will work inside the XE with this film.
V1 Tech said the true test is to mount on window and go to known area like a store that triggers the radar,. Then point it out the side window to see if it works fine and then front window. That is their truth test.

Are you sure that dotted area reduces the radar detection signal? I used my radar detector and unfortunately there were no cops on the road to test it. I got a couple of false alarms due to automatic doors though.
Thanks to mosesbotbol I was able to get my EZ pass installed on that dotted area and now it works! so much better!

I found that my redline only did so so when tucked up as far into the dots as possible :-( I reverted back to my STiR+ and a remote install in the front grill. With the black grill it look OEM and the sensitivity/range is insane. I also have ALP's mounted for laser. If you want very good information from major radar detection enthusiasts, go to:

All front windshields on the XE have the microweb layer of metal in between the layers of glass, which severely blocks radio waves as well as heat. You won't find it idescribed this way in the manual, but this rf shield also protects you from any alien oriented brain control, in case you forgot your tin hat.
I too experimented extensively with my V1, all to no avail. The best range I was able to achieve was by mounting the V1 so the reception horn was facing through the dot-matrix section behind the mirror, on the other side from my Tex Tag (ez pass.) This required the unit to tilt up as well.... tilting up is not good for reception, for sure.
Even then I'd have to get right on top of the radar source in order for it to read forward radar. No good at all.
The only detector solutions I know will work are the remote mounted types. I've already started my savings account to budget for sport springs, the ECU tune, and a 9500ci. Damm radar will cost me more than the car mods, but will pay for itself in no time.

Austin7: I pm'd you about springs but I wanted to agree with your statement and mention that I have had noting but great results using the K40 Calibre BT units in the past on my cars. I stopped using them because I switch cars too often now and just use a few V1 units in my cars. But installing the K40 units was a breeze for me since they are wireless BT units and just a pair of leds inside the car. This may or may not be an option for you and others as well.
When I worked at the local Ferrari/Maserati/Aston/Porsche dealer we had local NJSP come in and test thier radar units on our cars to see real world results and not internet comparisons. the K40 did very well even with laser when installed properly.
