Gotcha. I've used that stuff in the past, but haven't yet had the need on my current vehicles. It's interesting (ridiculous) that they charge so much for it. It's probably $10 per can, plus a half hour of labor to pour it in.

I'll see if I can dig up a flyer from my dealer offering their valve cleaning service. But, I don't think it lists any actual products, just the issues and potential benefits. And, they're probably not consistent across dealers, anyway. But, it might be interesting to see for others in different regions.

I think they have to be either manually cleaned, or you could maybe spray some Sea Foam directly into your air intake before an oil change. That type of top-of-valve carbon buildup is apparently very problematic in Audi dfi's and a few other makes, but I was told by one of the Jag techs that because of our engine's dfi design, it hasn't really been too much of an issue.
I have the 4.2L Supercharged motor which is not DI. That's why I'm so confused why they have issues. These old V8's shouldn't have issues with dirty injectors but they insist it's a major issue and they deal with it all the time. I also use the BG 44K. I buy a bunch on Ebay to keep costs down. I usually run a can every month or two so it's not too expensive.

If the light pops for "restricted performance" again. I'll find some time to tear it down on my own and figure out how it's possible these injectors could ever get "dirty". I'll find another set of injectors and keep cleaning them and swapping them if it's not too much trouble. I'd like to tear into it to learn about it a bit more anyway.

Wow. God bless your ambition. That would be a nice write-up, too.

Fuel injector cleaner is just total BS. Modern gasoline's have plenty of detergent in them.
