Default how many miles on full tank??

Question for you guys.....how many miles are on the range when you fill your tank completely? I am getting about 290. I used to get well over 300 when I first bought my vehicle.

That's a very good number. How big is the tank in the XF/XFR?

I filled up the other day and mine read 333 on my 09 SC. My car is only a weekend, sunny day driver on the highway and that's the best I've ever gotten on a fill up.

I believe that the computer has looked at your average consumption for the last X miles and then puts up a number display for the estimated range.
Living in a big city here with stop and go poor mileage gives a fill up displayed range of 240 + or - miles.
Yet if I am in the middle of a long highway drive and fill up, the displayed range will show over 320 miles.

Jaguar fits a small tank, British cars don't need big range. I think the tank is 67 liters. This about 16 US gallons.

Right at about 280 for ours. For some reason the mpg goes way down when I drive it. No idea why hahaha.

The range is approx. 270 to 330 depending if it's city vs. highway....the car gets great mileage on the highway, but not so great in city driving....Jag needs to install a defeatable start/stop system...

If you drive mostly on the highway then it will be over 300. If you drive mostly city like me then it will be 250 or similar. I get about 17MPG city and about 23-25 MPG when driving highway. Best I ever saw was 27MPG on the highway though.

Great question... Vegas blast from the Socal, smooth traffic Friday AM, about 15-over posted, trip computer estimated 23.5 MPG. Actual was 265 Miles for ~11.5 Gal or 23.0. Return trip without passenger 20 over, 10 under court was 22.8 Trip computer. Around town, about 17 ish with my esposa's foot.

The 5 liter engine does surprisingly well. I get about 340 on a tank (mixed driving) with the little 3.9 liter in my car, which has same size tank as the XF (18.5 gallons).

Generally cars seem to be engineered to give 400 miles to a full tank. As noted by Executive the XFs tank is 18.4 gallons. Of course, few of us run the tank down to the lowest point otherwise we may be left at the road side :-). I tend to get within 60 miles of empty and with my mileage of 22.3 mpg on average I get about 350 to the tank before I need to refuel.

As a comparison, I have just taken delivery of a new BMW 528i. That gets about 500 miles to the tank (it is an 18.5 gallon fuel tank). On my first drives I have done 450 miles before I felt I needed to refuel. However this car has a much smaller engine and is designed for fuel economy.

whitebyxf,

That's a lot of miles on one tank. Impressive numbers the 528 put out. I know it's a 6 cylinder engine, but those cars are 4000lb.

Oh and Congrats!!!

I'm in the midst of a long road trip right now, driving 75-95 mph on the highway. My last two fillups the range showed 410 and 418. I just went 358 miles on the last tank with 40 miles of range remaining. I usually get about 19mpg in town and 26 or more on the highway (over 27 if I don't go over 80 mph)..

Interestingly the 2012 528i is a 4 cylinder engineer which puts out nearly the same bhp but more torque and from a lower rpm, which is what counts, as the 6 cylinder it replaces all with performance that exceeds the old 6 cylinder (C & D quoted 0 - 60 mph of 5.9 seconds). This BMW N20 engine is amazing. Now all we want is something similar in our Jags!! Technology is moving very fast these days and the fact that a 2 litre, 4 cylinder is in the same ball park as a NA 5 litre V8 (the engine in my XF) in terms of performance is unbelievable (Jag 0 - 60 is 5.4, the BMW 0 - 60 is 5.9). Now all we need to see is whether it lasts!!

Thank you for the congrats.

My '09 XF shows around 367 miles after every fill up. During my road trip to SC, it said 460 mi after about 3.5 hours of me staying between 70 and 90 MPH.

The mileage on my 5.0 XF is noticeably better than the mileage was on my 4.0 S-type. One of my big gripes with my S-type is that we we couldn't get to a destination 270 miles away without filling up. With the XF, that's no problem at all. With a typical highway mileage of 26-27, you can go 300 miles without even thinking of filling up. And yes, the tank is 18.5 gallons.
