Default Battery Tender Install

All,

I have used CTEK tenders for quite a while on my other cars and I would like to use one on the Jag.

Even after all the threads on this, does anyone have pictures of a 2011 XJ's battery with clips plugged in the correct way?

Also, given the Battery Monitoring System, what is the best way to install quick disconnects for the CTEK?

Any pics of existing setups would be great.

Thanks!
dsd

Does anyone have the answers to dsd's questions?

Found it! See https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-x351-53/trickle-charger-battery-conditioner-98436/page2/ , in particular Post ## 35 - 37.

I was expecting to find remote battery terminals, since my 2009 XKR is equipped with them and I wired my charger to them and not directly to the battery terminals. But my XKR does not have the battery monitoring system that is in the XJ.

I'm interested in this because I'm picking up my 2013 XJ today and know I'll have to keep it on the charger to repel the gremlins.

I too would like to know. The low battery warning light drives me nuts.

I picked up my CPO 2013 XJ SC this afternoon and among other things the salesman explained that the battery maintainer should not be connected directly to the battery terminals. Instead, it should be connected to the remote + (positive) and - (negative) terminals in the trunk that are located to the left of the spare tire. Otherwise, the battery monitoring system and separate battery for the "stop-start" system could be adversely affected.

Might be different for earlier models.

That is exactly how mine is connected, I was told the same thing by my dealer when I got the car 3 1/2 years ago.
