Default decoded my new XJ vins, lots of questions about my car build options

Well, I bought my XJ used ( was a Jaguar Lisbon Portugal demo car, mint ).

So I decoded the VIN and I have a lot of questions !

++ Do I have the Auto Beam thingy ? I drove tonight ( was tired and the car was new to me and I didnt read the manual correctly, but it doesnt seem to get the AUTO feature for the lights ? )

++ How do I access the SERVICE MENU ? It is always greyed out on the right side. I can access all the items ( configuration, trip computer selection, units etc ) but the last item - service menu - is always greyed out- Car running, Car stoped. After long drive, before. Cant get to access it, how can I do it ?

++ Some car's I've seen this this " ADAPTIVE-XENON HEADLAMPS " . Mine does not come with it, means I do not have the Xenon lamps that "turn" on the corners ?

++ I have the "LESS AUTO DIPPING MIRROR SYS". Is this for the mirror only or also for the lights ?

++ How can I active this "BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM" ?

++ What is this "R SPEC INTAGLIO" ?

++ What are those "LESS LABEL - IDEN INSURNCE GRP" and "LESS MEDIA GATEWAY MODULE" ?

++ How the heck can I have "TELEVISION" and also the "LESS TV RECEIVER" ?! I have TV but dont have the receiver ? what the heck ?

Here are the full VIN decoded options of my car ( its a MY2014 XJ Diesel Portfolio SWB ) :

Goncalo, I am still new to my XJ, so I am learning as I go. But, I can tell you this about the service message of your car. Go out to your car and leave your feet off of the pedals (both gas and brake) and press the START button. This will bring up the instrument cluster but not start the engine. From there, you can access the service menu and see what you want. Then, when you are ready to start the car, you can simply step on the brake and press the START button a second time and the engine will start.

I believe you need to set the selection dial on the headlight control stalk to "AUTO"

++ Some car's I've seen this: " ADAPTIVE-XENON HEADLAMPS " . Mine does not come with it, means I do not have the Xenon lamps that "turn" on the corners ?
I believe you are correct.

++ How can I active this "BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM" ?
I don't think you have to activate it, it is active all the time, but isn't highly noticeable.

++ What is this "R SPEC INTAGLIO" ?
The Intaglio is the the little decorative piece located at the center of the wrap around wood trim on your dash board/instrument panel, just forward of your center radio speaker located atop the dash board/instrument panel.

Here are the full VIN decoded options of my car ( its a MY2014 XJ Diesel Portfolio SWB ) :

R SPEC INTAGLIO (see above)

TELEVISION Perhaps on the back of the front seal head rests?

LESS AUTO DIPPING MIRROR SYS
LESS DUAL VIEW SCREENS
LESS ELECT WINDSHIELD DEFROST
LESS ELECTR SPEED LIMITATION
LESS HEADPHONES-REAR
LESS ICE NOISE REDUC-WHITEFIRE
LESS KIT-TIRE REPAIR SERVICE

LESS MEDIA GATEWAY MODULE

LESS REAR SIDE WINDOW BLINDS
LESS REAR WINDOW BLIND
LESS SOS/ASSISTANCE CALL
LESS SVP
LESS TELEMATICS/MULTI MEDIA
LESS TV RECEIVER
Sorry to say, but anything preceded by the word "LESS" means your car is NOT equipped with these options.

I hope this helps you,
John

Goncalo,

The blind spot monitoring system is in the upper outside corner of your left and right side view mirrors and illuminates when another vehicle is in your blind spot. Otherwise, it's just a tiny dot that is almost invisible. The system switches on automatically at speeds above 10 mph (16km/h).

You can access the Service Menu ONLY when the ignition is "ON" and the engine IS NOT running. To do this, press the START button WITHOUT putting your foot on the brake pedal. The gauges will illuminate. Then press the OK button on the right side of the steering wheel twice to open the Menu and use the down arrow to scroll down the menu and the right arrow to access the menu of your choice. See:

If this was helpful, please press at the bottom right.

Stuart

Yes, I can work that out What does puzzle me is supposedly has "TELEVISION" but then has the "LESS TELEVISION DECODER" which is stupid. And no, I do not have TV on the headrests.

Stuart
When I tested the Range Rover Sport and the XJ ( on the same day ) I could CLEARLY see that the Range Rover had this. On the view mirriors, I could see the led/light that was turned off ( had no reflective material ) so I understood that the car had this option.

Mine doesnt ( on the view mirror, its all "glass" ) and yet decoding the VIN, it says it does.

Yesterday I did travel around 200kms ( 150 ish miles ) at 22-23 pm, and I did not see it turning on a single time.

Go to the Vehicle Setup screen and make sure that the Blind Spot Monitor is activated in the Instrument Cluster menu.

Hummm Vehicle Setup in the main dash ( where the RPM counter is ? ) ?

If so, I have no instrument cluster options neither blind spot monitor options.

Sorry - but the manual of the car is in Portuguese - but with the menus half way in Portuguese and halfway in English in the printed manual that comes with the car.

And the car comes fully with the Menus in Portuguese - also, in a different / more updated I guess - version that what the printed manual comes.

So its a Royal PITA - its not as easy as "go read the manual". I did, trust me

It seems I have to go to Jaguar Lisbon and get a talk with the service guy to teach me a couple of things.. but as of now, it seems I dont have Blind Spot thingie... although it does say in the VIN decoder.

The Jaguar website for Europe should have a link to the online Owner's Handbook for your model year in the language of your choice. And your Jaguar dealer should be able to get you a new printed Owner's Handbook for free as a courtesy. You may be able to change the display language from Portuguese to English in the Vehicle Setup menu.
