XJL portfolio massage option
Hi -
I'm new to this forum and have a question about my car. It's a 2013 XJL awd with the portfolio package. I thought that included the massage option, but I haven't been able to find the switch on my touch pad. Did some of these xjl's come through without the massage feature or am I dealing with a factory oversight? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I don't have a 2013, as they didn't start offering 'portfolio' packages until 2012, but I think the massaging seats are standard on all XJ models. In the climate control screen, look for a start/stop button. It may or may not be identified by text that it is for the massage...my 2011 doesn't identify the buttons as such.
Thanks for the feedback. Dealer tells me that even though we have the XJL Portfolio package, we don't have massage. I checked out the Climate/front seat option and no on/off buttons below the front seat diagrams - nothing in the setup menu that I could find either.
That's a real let down, I'm sorry you don't have it. I use it almost every day driving home from work. I suppose that's another reason I'm glad I stuck with a 2011 when searching for my x351.
Thanks for the reply. I haven't been able to determine when Jaguar started ncluding the massage feature in the portfolio package. Perhaps others on this forum know the answer to this.
Massage was offered in the 2012 Portfolio model, but was not offered in the 2013 Portfolio model. It was offered as an option on the 2013 XJL Supercharged.

Unfortunately Jaguar, until this year (2016), has practiced "de-contenting" the XJ's standard, warranty/maintenance, and option packages and increased prices. Not a smart merchandising strategy, IMHO.
Thanks. You're about Jaguar's marketing strategy. Not too smart. I thought that by the time the 2015's were introduced that they had things right, but I think that they are using the same technique with the 2016 XF.
Just looking at the 2015 Portfolio models this past week on my dealers show room floor, I was amazed to see no standard seat massage, no seat back tray tables, less warranty/maintenance coverage, and a less powerful 3.0L V-6 rather than the 5.0L V-8 that came on my "standard" 2011 XJL. Plus, my engine doesn't shut off without my permission, nor spend more time shifting gears than staying in any one gear due to lesser available torque. Why would I trade "up" to a more expensive but less luxurious/capable vehicle?
Thanks. You're "right on the money". Jaguar automobiles are in a very competitive market, so I don't understand their marketing rationale. This might be "Polly-Anna", but why not build into all base models all option capabilities, then designate certain ones as standard and give the customer the opportunity to select still others, either at time of purchase or after the fact? If your model didn't come with the massage feature, you could always add it later. Seems like it would simplify Jaguar production too. Just wishful thinking on my part given the price of these cars, but perhaps Jaguar USA reads these forums and will listen to what it's customers are saying.
Very weird Jaguar move. They are trying to compete in a full-blown-luxury segment, where less isnt more.
I would understand if they do that in the XE or even in the XF range, trying for their cars to be competitive in their segment vs BMW and Mercs ... but in the XJ, doesnt make sense.
XJ should be fully loaded to begin with - and few more stuff added into, as options. Not stripped out.
Regarding the massage seats, I'm with H20boy - its really the best thing ever
