Cool Jaɡ‧u‧ər Electrical Wiring Color Codes

This is the color convention used by Jaɡ‧u‧ər.

Use it when reading electrical schematics and it will come in handy when looking for that "special" wire on your cat.

Wiring Color Codes

  • N Brown
  • B Black ▇
  • W White
  • K Pink
  • G Green
  • R Red
  • Y Yellow
  • O Orange
  • S Slate (or Gray)
  • L Light
  • U Blue
  • P Purple
When a wire has two or more color code letters, the first letter indicates the main color and the subsequent letter(s) indicate the tracer color(s).

this applied to my 1998 XK8 as well, thank you a a lot!

I had a wiring diagram and could figure out what wires I was after, because not all colors are what you think by the abbreviation.

Like kahaki, u=blue etc, Jaguar did that mess on purpose.

Excellent knowledge, Old Boy - I now have a slight chance more at figuring out the WU (White with Blue Tracer) wire flopping about near the battery and rear seat wall! Thank you, Sirs

Here's the list of LUCAS colour codes:

B = Black
G = Green
K = Pink
N = Brown
O = Orange
P = Purple
R = Red
S = Slate (Gray)
U = Blue
W = White
Y Yellow

For a paired combination of the above letters, the first letter is the main colour and the second letter is the tracer.

In addition:

D = Dark
L = Light
M = Medium
