Hi All,

I am interested in upgrading my stock radio on the vehicle. I'm absolutely at a loss when it comes to stereos, but I do have an idea of what I don't want to take on.......

I don't want to change the speakers, they're fine, replaced all about three yrs ago.

I don't want to find myself rewiring the entire vehicle, if fact I would like to limit it to simply utilizing the connector from the stock radio and placing it on the new unit.

I don't need to blow the windows out with massive wattage. It's a daily driver, to and from work, no extended road trips in this vehicle, I have a 10 minute drive back and forth from work.

I would like one with an aux input for the mp3, just in case I have the rare extended trip.

If it's reasonably priced, I would consider one with NAV built in, provided the only additional wiring is for the GPS sensor.

There are so many choices out there I get confused on what to get, or don't trust I'm making a good choice. I want simple.

Hope someone out there can guide me to a few recommendations. Thanks in advance.

 

Hi Rob, what system did you end up putting in your 89 Jag. I need to do the same. Currently have the original radio / cassette system that works intermittently.

I have done nothing in regard to upgrading the radio. These vehicles are so darn fickle when it comes to the wiring, I don't want to screw up a functioning car, with the exception of a poor quality radio.

So I wait for someone brave soul to show up and say " I've got this... and here's how....with pics!!!"

I can still dream......
