Default Aftermarket Stereo Install Help!

I have a MY 2000 XJ8 VDP equipped with the Alpine "premium" system. Includes the sub/amp/cd changer. Currently I have the stock headunit out of the car and an aftermarket Alpine IVA-D300 ready to install. My question is how do I go about wiring this badboy up? Is there an wiring harness adapter I could use or do I need to cut/splice the wires. Either way I need guidance.

Also it would be nice to keep the stock amp/sub but I do not care for them if they need to go once installing an aftermarket head unit.

Thanks in advance

To the best of my knowledge, the Jag Alpine system uses Jag proprietary AINet communication data commands. I know (from other posters) that the Jag head unit will not talk to a standard Alpine CD changer... I assume the opposite is the same.

The AINet cabling is standard, however, so replacing both the head unit and the changer would likely work together.

Thanks for the reply.

I been searching for weeks and can not find a "how to" for changing out the stock head unit to an aftermarket headunit. My aftermarket headunit (alpine) has a Ai-net.

Any wiring wizz can help me out? I just want my aftermarket headunit to be functional with the stock speakers.

I like to follow stereo upgrade threads, and I am pretty sure that the Alpine unit in yours is the exact same as our older xk8s, in which there is no aftermarket harness kit. My audio shop cut and spliced everything. It can be done, but you need to be focused and its permanent, know what I mean?

Splicing into the existing output leads heading to the amp should be pretty easy. You just need to find the right ones...do you have your JTIS up and running to get the electrical diagram? If not, go here and see if you can find it.

quad is correct, even if your new head unit and the old CD changer has the correct Ai-net connection, they still won't talk the correct language. Swap it out if you want MP3/WMA in bulk.
