Default Swithed power for amp (in trunk)

Anybody have a good idea on where to tap for the turn on lead for an aftermarket amplifier?

Forgot to mention, on a 2003 S-Type R. Not sure if all S-Types have the trunk mount battery and fuse box.

IIRC the stR has the battery in the trunk.

Some aftermarket amps have high inputs that sense a signal and turn on. If you haven't purchased an amp yet try finding one that has this. You can easily tap into your fuse box and run a power wire to the trunk. Make sure that you tap into a fuse that turns off with the key.

Yep str has battery in the trunk, not sure about other s types. Also has a fuse box. I was just looking for suggestions on which fuse(s) is switched and easy to tap for the remote signal turn on wire for an amp.

Thanks!

You can tap into the radio box. It turns on/off with the ignition so it wont run your car battery dead. I personally like to replace the radio to get a remote wire/rca's but to get it to work just take out the fuse and put the remote wire where the fuse goes and secure it by putting the fuse back. Make sure that when you do this that the light on the amp goes on/off. If you connect the wire on the wrong side the battery will get constant power from the battery (do you know what I mean? If not let me know.)

Yeah on mine I removed the blown factory subs from the package tray for better sound flow. Then I used a wire that went into one of the factory subs for the remote wire. Its switched on when the stereo is switched on, so that's always an option too. Probably the one thing I hate most about stereo installs is looking for switched 12v wires with a multimeter.. it takes forever. Eric
