Meetings
G'day also from me Glyn,
For Leura in Feb, and dependent on date, I will try to get down for that.
All this talk of the Blue Mountains takes me back to my Lithgow days in late 60s thru to early/mid 70s. The 40 Bends Hillclimb course was in it's heyday, and in conjunction with local rev-heads there was no shortage of race cars, specials and many of them were Jaguars or Jag based.
Gotta be careful not to mention names (coz some, like me, are still alive) but our "test circuit" in those long ago days started about 9 or 10pm from the Donnybrook Pub opposite the start of the Rydal Road out via Hartley and up Victoria Pass to turn sharp left at Mt Victoria for the exciting 10/10ths push towards Bell, then left again back past Clarence and back down into Lithgow via Scenic Hill. Back in those days, and especially during winter (which seemed to last 6 months) traffic might amount to a single car.
And yes, some of those tearaway rev-heads were the local coppers. How well I recall that they wrote off 2 of the then new Mini Cooper S unmarked pursuit cars, just trying to get them to Lithgow. Sensibly, the 3rd arrived on the back of a flat-top truck. Even so, the Dunlop Super Sport tyres on these little S's lasted no more than 1000-1200Km at front and only some 2000 at rear.
So . . . a much gentler, enjoyable, grand tour of Leura . . . yes please!
Cheers,

Ken

Ken, I think any further than the Hunter Valley for a day run from Sydney would also be a stretch .......however if northern NSW members (or anyone)wanted to meet up in Armidale or Tamworth I'd certainly be up for an overnighter. Also this thread is for Meets and Runs so you can certainly use it if you wish....
Good to hear from you, hope all is well .

Has a date been set for the Leura run? If not could it be later in Feb? We'd like to attend but this weekend is upon us and next week we'll be in Jim's neck of the woods (more west than north though) for a concert.
Darrell, there are 2 meets happening at the moment....
1....a drive to Leura one Sunday...Glyn has indicated any Sunday will do and Paul from Canberra has yet to get back to us....let's just pick a Sunday.
2....an overnight stay in Tenterfield on March 18th where I will be driving from Sydney. Ken and family will be the only other ones from NSW and some 6 others from QLD.....Should be a great meet and I would like to have company on the long drive up. All details are on QLD Aus. threads.

Okay guys I've PM'd Paul (Zook) and asked him to pick a Sunday over the next 5 weeks.....when he gets back to us we'll lock in as the date does not worry

Darrell, we have no time set for Leura, how about we wait till your ok....I'm happy to make it in 5 weeks or so.....I'd like to meet up!
The weather might settle a little by then...I've had days of 44 deg and last Sat got pelted with hailstones and am waiting for assessors for the house and wife's car.

Haven't forgotten our Leura drive, just waiting until the Tenterfield meet on the 18-19 is over......not too late for anyone to join us.
There are currently 10 members and family/partners going of which 3 are from NSW and 7 are Queenslanders.

Hi Jim, Darrell and others,
I'll be down in Sydney just prior to Easter and this may fit with Darrell's time frame but, regrettably, I am tied up with family commitment on Sunday 9th April. Any other day, I'd love to join you for a tour to my old Blue Mountains stomping ground. Jim, we can discuss next weekend in Tenterfield. Great to introduce you & Nina to Dave & Deb from Armidale also.
However, if not possible for me to join you for Leura, I just want to extend Darrell best wishes for his cataract op . . . a lot of us are here to wish you well, mate.
Cheers,

Ken
