Default V12 plumbing

Hi All,
Does anyone in the ACT region have a complete injected V12 engine circa 1978 that I can come and have a look at?

Mine has a lot of disconnected pipes that I would like to re connect to get my XJ-S running again but I have no clue where half of these pipes connect.

I have no air pump so some of the pipes can be plugged or removed entirely.

I have a much later V12 but sadly it is nothing like my 1978 version externally.

My plan is to see what the original V12 runs like. If it is all good then it stays in there if it is not then I'll look into fitting the 1992 engine and all of it's wiring.

If the 1992 engine is a dud or is too hard to fit then I'm not going to say what option 3 is.

Your not having much luck Jim....do you need to stand in front of it or would really good pictures help?
Just thinking maybe other forum members may help.

Pictures won't really help unfortunately because they have no hope of showing both ends of each pipe.

I may be able to plumb and block off enough to get it started. Personally I won't be surprised if the V12 in it has been cooked. I't in pieces because the last owner replaced both head gaskets.

Ok Jim good luck with it, I'm sure you've researched the XJS section.....Grant Francis from SA is a wealth of knowledge on these and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to answer anything you may need to know....I've PM'd him on a number of occasions.

My issue is that half the disconnected pipes are down below the inlet manifolds. I am missing the air pump and it's plumbing but I'll just jam ball bearings into the ports or tap threads and use grub screws to block them off.

There is a cross pipe across the back of the engine that connects to nothing and a metal pipe off the cross pipe that heads towards where the air pump should be and stops. It just sits on the chassis rail.

I look at all this bodgery and wonder if the head gaskets were replaced properly.

I may just be done with it and pull out the V12 and drop my LS1 into it. More power, better economy, easier parts availability and it does not need 9 litres of oil for every service. It would be a shame as it is a nice original XJ-S with no rust but at least I'll be able to enjoy driving it.

It'll be a nice ride with an LS1.
