Default Jaguar Xtype 2003 Two Litre V6

im looking for an Auto Electrician who may be able to get my Jaguar Xtype electronics in order. My problem is however, that’s apart from the car, I need him/her to come to me, as my car refuses to start, since I had it towed after it stopped on the highway near Ipswich Queensland Australia, ?

Maybe a quick google search in your area will bring up some local mobile Auto Electricians.
Are you in the Ipswich area?

Thank you, o1xjr. I will do that now, but in answer to your question re my location, yes, I do live near Ipswich,,, Goodna is my exact location, so I’m not sure I could actually get an Auto Electrician to come there, but I’ll give it a go. Thank you, once again. Docko.

I'm just around the corner really in Jindalee. Another member "Dr Phill" is near you and has 25 years experience in the automotive industry in Ipswich. He might have a contact. I'll shoot him a message.

I'll bet "just around the corner" is a very different concept of distance in Australia.

Seriously, not more than about 8 minutes away. That is just around the corner for us. And Dr Phill is probably closer from the other direction.

Hi Docko. I'll give you a call and see what we can sort. Sounds like a sensor has failed. I work at Richlands so calling in on my way home to have a look is no problems.

Default A Thousand Thanks

Firstly, May I say a HUGE thanks to Dr Phil, and most importantly, to his friend who alerted him to my fuel pump problem, because he redirected his homeward bound trip to call in and within a short time, but with an abundance of knowledge, FIXED MY PROBLEM. Thank you Dr. Phill, and to dwclapp, Graham, x_type_ipg, and to EVERYONE on the the Jaguar Forum, both in the USA & home here in Queensland Australia, for all your excellent assistance.
Thank you ALL ... Docko (Tony Dockery) 👍

Thanks for the kind words Docko. I'm glad that with the assistance of fellow Forum members we could trace the fault and then get it sorted for you. You are now back on the road again in your beloved Jag.

Default Limp Mode?

Would anyone know why my 2 litre Xtype Jaguar, 2003 model would go into limp mode after driving for about 40 minutes. I had trouble getting power to my fuel pump, but thanks to Dr Phill, he dropped by my place & fixed that problem yesterday, but now, (as my middle name is bad luck) I’m in trouble again. Help!

Default Fuel Pump

Would there be anyone in this wide world of Jaguar owners who have fitted an EXTERNAL fuel pump, thereby replacing the existing fuel pump in their 2003, Xtype, 2.1 litre Jaguar ?

Pull the codes, it may not be related to your just fixed problem. As for external, I couldn't find one reference that anyone has successfully tried or done it.

Default Fuel pump problem

Many thanks Dell, it’s so frustrating, especially after Dr Phill came to my home & sorted out the wiring to the pump. Once that was done, the car drove beautifully, except when I drove for 40 minutes or so, & then the computer put it into Limp Mode,,, but once I stopped & waited 10 minutes or so, (it was like something had to cool down... apart from myself) it started & was once again perfect for another 15 minutes of driving, and it once again, returned to Limp Mode... I’ve now ordered a brand new fuel pump, which hopefully will arrive on Friday, & my good friend Dr Phill, has agreed to fit it. In the meantime, I’ll remove the old pump & reduce the workload on Phill. However, thank you for your knowledge & assistance to date.
Docko ✅

If you can get the car up to the sunshine coast I can put it on the factory diagnostics (IDS/SDD) for you

Phil and Clark know the way
Other wise I will be down in Brisbane in 2 weeks to make some purchases (2 and 4 post hoists)
We can read the codes while I am in Brisbane

BTW Phill/Clark working bee on the XJS wont be till next month but would not mind some help setting up the hoists in a few weeks

Cheers

Default Xtype 2.1 litre 2003

Thank you so much for your offer to put it on your diagnostic computer, but the #€&#!ng thing wouldn’t make it. I drove to my sons home on Sunday & it went into limp mode 5 or 6 Times. I had to stop & wait until the traffic cleared (Gold Coast Hwy) before I could start it again & drive for another 15 minutes, & then stop again, so I’ve ordered a new fuel pump, as my scanner is still showing a fuel pump problem, P0001 fault. Phill has agreed to install it, & I will have the old one removed & ready for him. I’ll keep you posted, but thank you once again.
Regards, Docko (Tony)

Try Removing the key then restarting, a bunch of faults are cleared with the key removal that are not cleared if you stop/start the engine
Good Idea to swap pumps but another good candidate that will produce that fault is the TPS sensor

A standard scanner will not read the Jag Codes (only the P Codes)
Other than IDS/SDD the only scanner I know hat will read the codes is the iCarsoft i930. You can pick one up for under $200

Without reading the codes you are really just taking shots in the dark.
Personally I would not replace the pump till I had read the codes and confirmed that is the issue as you may just be wasting your time and money

Cheers

Default Scanner iCarsoft i930

Hi, 34by151, Firstly I should thank you for your assistance re my Jaguar Xtype dropping into limp mode. I shall immediately look into the purchase of the scanner that you have suggested, the iCarsoft i930, as you are correct, the one I have only shows P faults, for example, it has shown up (and this is the reason for my pump change) P0001. Once the new pump arrives from Melbourne & is fitted, (I hopefully will have the new scanner) & once I’m on the road again, I shall put everything to the test. Once again, thank you for your help.
Regards, Docko (Tony)
