Default Jaguar X-Type 2003, 2 litre V6

Well now,,, after I’ve tried everything that I could think of, (to get power to my fuel pump) I connected up a 12 volt battery directly to the pump. (Just to hear it going gave me a lift) So I turned on the ignition & my car started, hence! Now I know that the pump actually works, I need to know WHY there’s no power going to it through the actual vehicles wiring system. ?? Help

the pump is driven by a control unit fitted under the rear seat, the engine ECU sends a PWM signal to the control unit that then sends a variable voltage to the pump, this allows the engine ECU to control the fuel pressure to the injectors.

He's been told that before in 1 of his 3 posts on this same problem.

Docko, it's really not too helpful to post new threads on the same problem. If the advice and guidance given by members is not useful or solving the challenge, just keep responding post results in one thread. That way everything will be centralized.

Docko: The answer to your question is in your 1st of 3 posts on this topic: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-pump-205861/

x_type_lpg: X-Types with 2.0L petrol engines have a fuel pump relay; different from 2.5L and 3.0L petrols with a fuel pump control module. I didn't know this until now, after reviewing the wiring diagrams. Live and learn!

Default Fuel Pump

Firstly, May I apologise to all the very helpful people on this forum for my “multiple entries” regarding my fuel pump problem. I think I have finally found out how to reply to a suggestion made by one of the knowledgeable patrons. Once again, my apologies.
Regards,
Docko

Default It’s Docko ...

Hi Graham,,, I’m hoping I haven’t stuffed it up AGAIN, because I’ve posted my introduction, my location, date of birth, and my car details, on a page I “hope” was the correct page ?
My apologies if I’ve gotten it wrong.
Kind regards,

On main page, use the "user cp" tab. I.e. User control panel. If you do your signature correctly, as you post, the info will be at the end as exampled in this post.

Btw, the signature is on left about 1/2 way down. Not in "just info of you".

Hi to all that have responded to Dockos posts. We traced the fault through to the pump and found it to have been caused by a previous repair gone wrong. It was just a case of working out the correct wire colours that had been replaced due to a failed "burnt" wire. When it was all reconnected the sequence was miss aligned. Trace the wires to the pump, connect in the correct order and all was rectified. We will go back at a later date and replace said wiring so there are no joins that can create another head ache down the tracks. I have never been a fan of the good old "twist and crimp" repair.

Default Fuel Pump

Good morning to everyone on the Forum, I think I’ve entered a question on the wrong page AGAIN, so to avoid getting my knuckles cracked, or causing any confusion, I’ll have the Jaguar Service Centre try to solve my problem. Hence! Please accept my apology in advance.
Docko.
