Here is a couple of likely starters, and it would be a good idea to head South/South West of Brisbane for a day out. Let's see where this thread takes us.

We, from the north are happy to travel south to meet with other members for outing such as drives, lunch or anything you think may be a good day out.

The first idea is from 34by151 (James), of having a gokarting day on the Gold Coast side if Brisbane to see what sort of interest we get. It can b a week day if that suits too. There are a few in the area.

Xtreme Karting - Xtreme Karting - The best Karting experience on the gold coast.

Our Go Kart Tracks | Slideways - Go Karting World

Go Kart Racing Brisbane, Gold Coast Go Karting, Big Karts Track|Kingston Park Raceway

We had a recent karting day at Landsborough Big Kart Track on the Sunshine Coast that was enjoyed by all, it would be good to do it again with a few more members.

Earlier this month the Toowoomba Auto Club went on their annual economy run, it started in Toowoomba and finished some 180Km later at a private motor museum at Tamborine. The museum is smallish but of good quality, with some very desirable cars, E.G. 1930's and 50's Bentley's, another Ex racing '30s Bentley now sold and on its way to the UK ($500,000). Jaguar XKS, XJS, (I believe both for sale) A genuine 2 door Xjs protatype under restoration. Etc. This is set up on his property as a very nice country setting with the displays housed in a village type setting as in a shop, garage, pub and church. If you are interested in this destination or future T'ba Club runs let me know. Mike

Hi Ferdie,
That sounds like a great destination, and in the area we would like to have a run for the members from south and west of Brisbane.
Do you have contact detials, or you could start a new thread and run with it as coordinator, I know myself and at least one other member will be starters.
It would great for the regional forum to have members take the lead and organise a run. I will always be a starter on a Sunday event.

Cheers

OK Clarke, leave it with me for a while and I will start to gather information. I will be a bit busy for the rest of the year, but will see about a run for early next year. Any preference for a time? Mike

Mike, if you have dates in mind just start a thread and we(the usual suspects) will jump aboard) and hopefully some new ones.
As I said, I know I can do Sundays always. And a lot of week days.

Best thing to do is start a thread when you have info and we will jump in.

Apart from Mike we have nothing happening here, I think Mike is going to start a new thread when gathers the info and finds some spare time.

In the meantime Paul(paulyling ) post what weekends you will be home on the next rotation, James (34by151) I'm guessing you will be a starter too.

Jim (58mk1x2) has some ideas for a meet and is going to contact me with them. He is down south/west of Beaudesert with good driving roads around there.

Anyone with ideas please jump in or it will be Christmas before we know it and nothing will happen until the new year.

We need to start making a plan soon, some ideas for lunch below.

Hi Clarke

15th, 22nd and 29th of November are the Sundays I would be free next time off at this stage.

We thinking Sunday as normal?

Calypso Bay and Mt Tambourine area sounds great...lets do it!

Maybe a vote needs to be started between the two spots?

Ill get back to u in a few days with my vote, but at this stage I like both spots ☺

I'm good with all three dates too, all the places are great to eat, but Tamborine, Cunungra and Lamington National park are great driving roads.
You could do all three in a morning and end up at O'riellys for lunch. And drive back to Brisbane via Beaudesert/ Boonah.

Jim (58mk1x2), after our chat tonight I realised the third weekend that had been mentioned in November is Sunday the 29th. As you are busy the 15th and 22nd maybe we could plan for the 29th.

James, I will talk to Jim(58mk1x2) sometime this week and see if 6/12 suits. He is keen to meet other members but is busy the 22nd.
I'm headed down to his place some time soon to see what I can salvage from his Series 1 hot rod donor before he sends it to be scrapped.
Maybe you want to tag along for a drive? about an hour south of my place. It will be a week day either 15,16, 19 or 20th Oct.(send me a pm if you to come along and check out his Jags.)

Sorry guys...I'm now out.

Got a phone call from the office...I get home for only 2 weeks then ship back out to a different rig on 23rd Nov. They changed my roster on me (not uncommon in this field)

Only gives me 2 weekends at home, first one was already taken up and then other one I'd like to keep open for the fam.

Sorry dudes

p.s As a bit of trivia is is the same rig that was used it the film Armageddon at the very start

Default Date set for Sunday 6th December.

Jim (58mk1x2) +1
James (34by151) +3
Clarke (o1xjr) +1

From input so far of peoples availability, we decided on a Lunch at the Rathdowney Hotel, about 90 minutes south west of Brisbane near the NSW border.
We can work out final details closer to the day, James & I will heading down from the western suburbs via Boonah and Beaudesert and anyone who wants to tag along with us is welcome, or just meet us there when we decide on a time.

I thinking 12 pm meet at the Hotel at this stage, but if you any ideas or input please post it.
