Default What was I thinking?

I've always wanted a Cooper S and came across this one.
Best described as a renovators delight.
Let the fun begin.

30 minutes with a buffer and you should be good to go. Tell me your keeping the roof art please!

When I was a late teenager (thats the Jurassic period I think) I had a workmate who bought wrecks from the NRMA and created a string of Cooper S mini vans out of assorted front halves and back halves. Neat things to work on. Does this mean the wipers on the Mark 2 go back another year or two?

Great find Ken, I'm envious!! The UJ roof was a popular adornment on mini's in the UK, so just curious if yours is an Aussie model or full import (rear number plate plinth is an easy way to tell). Anyway, enjoy to the max!

The Union Jack will definitely be going. It's a terrible job. Looks like it's been painted with a chook.
Not only the Wipers on the Jag, everything has been put back a year or 2. (I have fixed the brake lights.)
It's jammed in a corner of the shed at the moment while I have a good re-organise and chuckout. Apart from a shell it came with nearly enough parts to build another car. I've started to sort through them to see whats usable and what can go. There's 4 bumpers but none are any good.

Great get Ken

I have been driving past one for 30 years now and only plucked up the courage to start asking about it , in Jan 2015.
Left a note , left lots of notes and photos of my license etc with no reply

Knocked on the door a couple of times with no answer and had left it for quite a few months.

Was driving by last weekend and thought I'd try again.

The lady answered the door but as soon as I mentioned the mini the lady said ' Not for sale ' and promptly shut the door

Good luck with the resto

Is it a 1275 twin Tank cooper

Yep it's the real thing.

It's a shame what some people do with their old cars.

There's a HQ one tonner sitting in a front yard for at least 5 years. A couple of weeks ago I saw the lady walking her dog and enquired about it. (A mate is looking for one.)

"Oh no, it's not for sale. I'm going to restore it."

It turns out she's got 5 more sitting out at her mothers farm waiting for restoration.

A shame indeed. Most of them are dreamers, meanwhile the metal slowly returns to the ground.

Yeah, learn't a few things about how they go together. Not all was what it seemed though.
Seems Cooper S Minis are a bit like XY GTs, there's a lot more around than were made.
