Default Winter Storage, Weekend Car

Purchased my 1994 XJ6 Sovereign series about two weeks ago. Keep it in storage in my driveway (I dont have a garage) but I like to bring it out on the good weekends.

I always cover it up with a official fabric car cover and then on top of the car cover I have a whether proof tarp. Other then giving it good warm up runs two or three times a week is there anything else that can be done to ensure no whether caused problems? It only gets to maximum low of about -7 to -8 degrees in Burnaby, B.C.

You might want to buy some fuel stabilizer so it doesnt go bad over the winter. And a battery maintainer (not a charger) is a good idea too.

DON'T start the engine unless you're actually going out for a good long drive. It does far more harm than good in particular building up moisture and acid in the oil. This moisture will also tend to rot the exhaust system.

My toys sit undisturbed for up to six months over our Ontario winters .

A battery maintainer eh, what would something like it cost roughly? and what would the difficulty be like to install it?

Do a search on this site for maintainers, you will find lots of info. I have a CTEK US800 I got from Lordco on sale at 70 or 80 dollars. It kept my toys alive over the winter for several years now.
It just clips onto the battery like any charger, or it also comes with a plug that you can hard wire into the vehicle.

Terrific I'll have a look this weekend over at Lordco for a search starter.

This is a great unit to use. I've put it on my xkr over the winter. ...does a nice job keeping battery up to par in my cold garage. Also can be had cheaper when on sale at times.
