Clay Bar Question

Clay Bar Question
Hi
I bought an XKR at the end of last year from a dealer...condition was great.
Today I thought I would clay bar it before polish and HDwax.
I have never used clay bar before and did everything I am supposed to...lots of lubricant.
Absolutely nothing was on the clay that I used when I finished the boot(trunk) area??
I phoned the firm that I bought the car from to ask if it had already been done....can't remember, but we sometimes mop a car and that may be the reason.
I do exceedingly few miles, I guess less than 500 since I bought the car.
No I didn't do 'the bag' test first.
I would appreciate any comments.
Thanks
Brian

You're likely doing it right, just nothing there to pick up. That's not a bad thing. Still I'm sure it's picking up microscopic particles that would pit in the long run, so I'd keep it up every few months regardless.
Does it feel any smoother to the touch?
*Edit: I found that when I tried a paint-correcting wax I had trouble buffing as I could still see little spots that were hard to buff out. I figured out they were contaminants and the wax was getting caught and smeared around them (we're talking barely noticeable here). I went over the area with a clay bar and waxed again, and the problem resolved. Nothing visible in the clay, however.
