Thumbs up Journey's of a detailer.. On a mission to restore shine and customer/dealer relations

Detailers Journal - Superbowl Sunday 2010

I was hired by a L.A. County Lexus Dealer to drive almost 600 miles round trip to detail a brand new Matador Red Mica Lexus IS-F this last weekend. Customer had taken delivery of the vehicle and was promised a perfect finish, when he arrived home the vehicle had extensive fine hairline scratches. They had promised the customer if he was not satisfied with the finish he could procure a detailer from anywhere in California.....I got the call from this gentleman at 9:55pm on 1/31/10...After over 40 email's between the owner and the dealership, the dealer agreed to my estimate....They arranged to pay for my drive time (down time), lodging and the complete paint correction.......... So I loaded up my reserve water tank that fits in the back of the Denali and utilizing a 12v washdown pump and a hose I was able to take R/O water with me and my supplies. So we packed up and drove thru the country to tackle this job. My wife and I performed this job on Superbowl Sunday, it's gotta be the passion and the persuit of perfection...

Here are some photos of the trip some scenic and surreal and some of the job to restore the shine on this gorgeous "Candy" IS-F.

This is the customers actual testimonial on Citysearch

The most meticulate and perfectionist detailer ever!

by JRISF at Citysearch

If you need to have your car treated like a human being, contact Dave at Innovative Detailing ASAP. I purchased an 09 ISF in Southern California and drove it to my home town in Central California. The car had sat at the dealership for close to 8 months, and had gone to what appeared to be several "washings" and "details". The paint was full or hair line scratches. Out of desperation, I sent out an e-mail to Dave very late at night, and pleaded for him to call me the very same night, if he could. I thought to myself that I would never hear back that evening. Well, sure enough, he calls me the very same night. He was genuinely concerned, and worked with me for the dealer to compensate him for his time and service to drive back and forth to Tustin around 600 miles. He answered all of my questions, and most importantly, treated my car like royalty. He provided the best customer service of ANY business that I EVER have dealt with, and that is rare these days, very rare. He spent all day on my car, and even spent a second night here, so that he could get the job done perfectly. This is the first person that I have ever felt comfortable just handing the keys of my car, and knowing that the job would be done right the first time around, and that is a great feeling that one cannot put a price on. Most importantly, the car now looks just like I envisioned. Thumbs WAY up for Dave and Innovative Detailing.
  • Pros: Meticulous, perfectionist, detail oriented, honest, friendly
  • Cons: NONE!!!!!!

It's wonderful to be in this business and have customers like this!

Thank you for viewing, until the next road trip!

What a great write up Dave
It looks like you got to see some beautiful scenery on the way there too, no doubt the 3 hour travelling time went by real quick?
The finish on the car is just awesome and the Deep Red paintwork looks as if its dripping wet almost, gorgeouss.
Top job Dave

Great post.

I can't believe that the customer didn't inspect the car before collection from the dealer's.

Still you got a good weekend 'break' out of it, and we got an insight into a travelling detailer

Thanks for sharing,

Richard

More enjoyable than "reading" Playboy. I can just stare at this Lexus all day long!
Very nice job, now if I had only a fraction of your talent Dave.

Above all Dave its nice that you got the recognition you deserve in the way of a testimonial
Too many times these days customers are only too happy to shout when things aren't right but not so much when things are just so......Great testimonial as reposted below Dave

sounds interesting JJ!
Dunno if this makes sense, but there's talk of trying to organise a meet if there's any interest in the Atlanta area (GA?? ) and NalleyJag, our vendor has discussed the possibility of hosting it
If we can get enough members to want to attend, there's all sorts of possibilities, maybe even a 2 or 3 car detail in for Dave? Spend a couple of nights in the vicinity, do the details then attend the meet

Just thinkin out loud in type guys....If any of this makes sense and seems doable check out the post in the regional section and see where it goes?
