Default Removing adhesive FROM window tint

Hi all. I bought my car in September from a used car lot. They affixed a couple of window stickers, as is their custom, to the interior of the driver's side passenger window. Well, this car has custom window tint, a feature that factored into my buying this particular car, as here in Dallas window tint is a big time "must have" during the infernal summers.

In any event, I want to remove the residual adhesive left behind on the window tint. I know just how to remove adhesive from window glass. Careful use of a straight edge razor blade, "Goo Gone" and acetone nail polish remover are all great methods. Of course, the razor blade approach needs care taken on bare glass to avoid scratching, but on window tint, would almost certainly cause cuts. I'm afraid acetone would begin to dissolve the tint along with the unwanted adhesive.

How about "Goo Gone"? Have you guys or gals ever used it successfully on window tint? Or do you have another suggestion? Please help if able. Thanks in advance.

SuperTrav, I would try or suggest the following.....

  • Chem free method would be steam using a steamer
  • Tarminator or Xenit by Stoner
  • Goo Gone may also work
  • WD-40 may also works wonders for adheasive removal
