Thumbs up Diesel vs petrol Jags at Santa Pod Dragstrip

A few weeks ago some of us from the .co.uk forum went on a trip to Santa Pod dragstrip (Nr Northampton UK) for a meet and to see what our cars could do.I was particularly keen to see how my car would fare against the 4.0 V8 S Type as there had been some "chat" on the forum some months earlier about the 4.0 vs 2.7TDVi.
The cars were....
Two X350 XJR's (one a Paramount Performance tweaked one)
An X350 3.0 petrol
An S Type 2.7d
Two S Type 4.0 V8's
An X308 XJR
and my 2.7d X350
Here are some pics and some "interesting" results........
Not all of the cars in Tescos car park were Jags when we met up...........

At the drag strip there were some interesting cars like this 800Hp Mustang with parachute and a button for a 300 BHP Nitrous shot.....

It got away just before I could get the pic and the smoke had cleared.......

And a few more pics from the dragstrip......

Here are the results in order from 3 runs (dont have times for 2 but I think they would be in the right order)......
1) X308 XJR.......101.95 mph....ET 13.67 seconds
2) X350 XJR.......100.3mph......ET 14.25 seconds
3) X350 XJR............................................... ..
4) XJ TDVi LWB...90.51 mph.....ET 15.73 seconds
5) S Type 4.0 V8.89.42 mph.....ET 15.89 seconds
6) S Type 4.0 V8..87.53 mph....ET 15.93 seconds
7) S Type 2.7 TDVi.........................................
8) XJ 3.0............82.57 mph....ET 17.08 seconds (manual gear changes)
Here's a vid of mine vs the X308 XJR which was the fastest of the day from our Jag group
Video - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
Glad to see the XJ TDVi was quicker than all except the XJR's on the day
For me it was an 8 hour (450 mile round trip) but cant wait to go again.
The next visit is on the 17 Sept if anyone else wants to go

Thumbs up

Great photos Buck!

So, the Paramount Performance Tuned X350 XJR was slower than an old X308 XJR?

Huh?

great vid, would be nice to see some smoke out of the car, i bet you would beat the other car, with just a little more fuel.

somebody s got to setup a two position switch ECU map, one for street and mot, and another for a big increase in fuel, and timing!

Ron, doubt I would have beat the other car even with a little more fuel......it was the 4.0 Supercharged X308 that beat the rest of the Jags including the 4.2 Supercharged X350's!

No doubt we'll be getting pics of your travels too? I'd be disappointed if we didn't as I'm sure others would be too.

Good on the old girl in oil burning format for giving the rest of them a run for their money Buck

this maybe a little of topic, but OK.

i just got information , that a new Ford truck set the production truck top speed record at Bonneville race track in Utah USA.

truck was a 2011 superduty 4dr F250 diesel model, went 171mph, then they filled tank with 20% bio-diesel fuel and went 182mph, quite impressive to say the least.

am trying to find more info,i'll post if i do!!
