Default smoking at low rpm

My jaguar 2.0 D from 2003 lately makes a lot of smoke even if the engine is cold or hot and this happens at low rpm and at about 2000 rpm it hesitates it has gaps of power but when it goes to higher rpm it runs nicely the turbo works becouse it doesn't go into limp mode . i didn't check enything yet . i've read about the EGR and hosses but could someone tell me where to start. This is my first diesel and i have no idea how resolve any problems. Pplease help

Smoke at 2000 RPM is not too bad as far as "Fire Danger Ratings" go.
