Sorry if this is off topic, or not the correct place to post. I am posting on behalf of a friend.

My dad's friend recently relocated from South Africa to the UK. He brought his 1965 E Type Jaguar, 4.2 litre, and he has a question about a specific oil to use. I assume he used to buy a specific oil in South Africa, or had his own connections there to know the answer, I don't know, I am guessing here, but he has been living in the UK for about 1 year now, and I guess he is struggling to find an answer to this.

So what he is asking is:

He needs to know if a Shell helix semi synthetic SAE 10W/40 oil is suitable for use in his 1965 E Type Jaguar, 4.2 litre. It has done 81000 miles from new and the engine has never been overhauled. It has been regularly serviced and until now the oil used was Shell or Castrol 20W/50 (mineral oil).

Any pointers or any help would be great, thanks!
