'64 E Coupe tool roll
I have what I believe to be a mostly original tool roll for my E. The car has been in the family since 1974. (see my postings under new members for more info) https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-cheers-77812/
I'm asking for a couple of things:
1. Comments as to it's originality
2. Obviously missing pieces?
3. Ideas on how best to restore the tools. They are a little rusty, surface rust
4. Best place to source a correct, new roll for it. Or should I just take this one to a local shop and have them duplicate it?
Thank you.

Charlie,
The Tool Roll looks very similar to the one from my Aston Martin DB5 and looks to have suffered about as much as my original had! These were common on prestige British cars in the 1960's.
The Roll is easily replicated by a competent machinist and I can dig out the materials spec and instructions for the Aston version if the details would help.
This is a replicated one, other examples of which have been sufficient to pass many a rigorous Concours scrutiny:
Refurbishing the tools is likely to be both very costly and have possibly disappointing results. Originals were available in the UK the last time I needed to source any around five years ago.

Thanks again Graham. We have a very good upholstery man here in town so I'll check with him on making a new one. If you have specs for type of material, trim, lining etc that would be great.
As for the tools...I was thinking of starting with soaking them in WD40, liquid wrench, oil or the such and see how that goes. I also have a blast cabinet and could use glass beads or walnut shells and see what happens. I'm sure I can't afford to replace the individual tools. These are the originals and are marked "Jaguar" so I want to try to bring them back.
I had to leave town for work today, but after I get back I'll post more pics of the tools themselves and see what you think.

Google is your friend. Just do a search on "jaguar xke tool roll", and you will find all sorts of answers to 1., 2., and 4. As to 3., take the best spanner to a local gun shop that carries "classic" gun refinishing products, and they will probably have a product to suggest - then DIY after removing and treating the surface rust.
