Default crack in water jacket

I have a 1971 XKE V12. the problem is there is water vapor coming out of the left cylinder head. After disassembly I determined that the outer jacket has a few Hairline cracks. Upon further examination it seems that the outer jacket is not used in the this motor, has anyone tried to seal off this jacket. it would solve my problem.
I'm new to this forum, thanks for the help, if any one has a left cylinder head for this car I would love to talk to him.
Thanks

What is it that you are calling "the outer jacket" ? Might help if you post a couple of photos so we can get our heads around it.

The casting can be welded relatively easily. However that is a symptom not the final answer. If water was left to freeze what other damage has been done? A bare block used is not expensive and likely cheaper than the cost of cleaning and welding.
