Default E-Type

Good afternoon. I have been looking at a !970 E-Type. I would like to get some opinions on a rough value. I understand thats a tough thing to do without seeing it. So the car is the 2+2 auto with AC. It has been in a collection for 35+ years. 40 thousand original miles, no rust, its runs and drives but needs tune up deep cleaning. Nothing has been done to it in 35 years except the occasional startup/short drive. Paint is good, a couple small spiders and some chips around edges etc but no major blemishes. I can't tell if its original paint or if it has ever been wrecked. The data plate is not present under the fuel bowl. I have a painted plate on drivers side with 4 numbers on it. Is that the numbers also? I have more pics and can take specific areas if that helps. I would rather not say what I can get it for as I will likely just fix it and re-sell. Thanks for the help!!

J

Here are the current insurance valuations on 1970 2+2 E-Types:
Price Guide Report
Take it with a grain of salt, but even the 2+2s seem to be along for the ride - until the bubble bursts.

Thanks. Is your plate a painted plate with only those numbers (no fluid capacities etc)? Do you know if that is correct or should it have one on passenger side also? Thanks again.

just saw what looks like emblem on the side of the bonnet. ECMIKE sr member has said that is on some 1971 models. look down about 32 posts for e type id and see what mike has said. also you can look on xke data and ck #

Thanks jaguar jon. It does have the emblem described in his post. I had looked on eke data and it shows "(specification: series 2, left-hand drive, two-plus-two) is not in the database". The plate in the door jam shows manufactured 5-70. What is the 2R chassis prefix? Mine starts with P1R. Thanks for the help.
