Default E-Type headlight question?

Somebody said that ALL E-Types, series 1, 11/2, 2, and 3 all have a similar chromed round-snap-on headlight trim ring surround? But I think the series 1 with the enclosed headlights had no headlight trim rings at all ! As the headlights were recessed so far back in the fender their was no need for trim rings because they can't be seen !
The series 11/2 brought the headlights forward to the edge of the fender opening
so a trim ring with a thin profile was used on this model only.
Then for series 2 and 3 the headlights are now moved forward 2 1/2" this required a conventional headlight ring as used on an MGB and other British cars.
Now because the headlights are surrounded by "sugar scoops" their is no way to
access the single screw that holds the MGB-style ring on, sooooo it is necessary
to "snap" the rings on these XKE's and rely on the top finisher to help hold the trim ring in place......... any thoughts on this ????

All cars have the chrome-plated headlight retaining ring, but the Series 1 doesnt have the outer headlight ring. As you say, it wouldn't fit.

Have a look at the SNG Barratt website
