Default Greasing rear axle universals

I have completed three of the four but the inner one on starboard side is problematic. The grease nipple is oriented inboard rather than straight out. It's pointing straight at one of the nuts securing the joint to the brake assembly and I'll never get a grease gun onto it. As I see it, choices are some sort of special needle injector head on the gun. I've heard of them but never seen one. Or remove the nipple and replace with an angled nippple, say 45 degrees. Right now I can't get a little ring spanner onto it and my 9 mm (smallest I have) seems too large anyway. So I don't know what size to get if this is feasible at all. Shopping tomorrow might jag (does this pun work in the USA?) the correct size ring spanner and I might get it on to the nipple and I might find a suitable angled substitute and it might go in.

All wisdom welcome.

When you are shopping for the spanner, just measure it against a grease nipple at the store. This of course presumes that the store also has grease nipples.

8 mm ring spanner I bought today fits and I had the nipple 3/4 out before I got cold feet about my arthritic fingers being able to put a substitute in or indeed this one back. It's very tight in there. I wonder if I could slide over 50 mm of flexible polythene tubing for a tight fit to twist the nipple in to start the thread. might work to replace the existing nipple but installing a 45 degree one will be more challenging. Watch this space.

Plums, where are you? I couldn't agree more on the use of English.
