Gulp Valve???? What's that?
Hi Sptfr78,
A gulp valve is part of the emission air injector system. It bleeds off air from the air pump to the exhaust manifold during deceleration to prevent backfire in the exhaust system.
Hope this helps,
Bob

V12s with carbs had Gulp Valves. As indicated it's an emissions item to offset a transient rich mixture condition that occurs with the sudden shut of the throttle. It "gulps" air into the intakes to allow the rich mixture to completely burn.
