Hi Everyone
I just joined and am learning my way around. I have a 1972 E Type 2+2 in silver. Bought it in 1985 from the original owner. Drove it a ton till that whole married with children consumed the time and the money. Car has been garaged for about 29 years. but really needs some love. The plan is to start with fuel system and clean and repair things as I can, change fluids and then move on to brakes and suspension. will keep me out of trouble for a long time. Goal is to be able to drive it alot. so it wont be a show car. will be asking for advice on all kinds of things including finding a few more horsepower and some changes for reliability. will post pictures soon. Just finished cleaning inside and out of tank, Hoping to replace the hoses and get installed soon. fuel pump kits will be next
Welcome and good to read you KEPT it through all that and didn't sell it! Consider an electronic SU fuel pump, same form factor, but no points to get messed up. 123 electronic distributor, with companion coil and wires. Coolcat Corp. aluminum radiator and dual fans, perfectly engineered to bolt right in, even with factory AC. LED bulbs and flasher units from Superbright LEDS. The best part is all the great people on this forum who are kind and generous with their advice, counsel and experience. My 69 is a better car as a result of their help!
Thanks Valerie,
I appreciate the welcome and the advice. Will definitily do some research on those items. I will start with the fuel pump rebuild just because I like to tinker and I want it running first and then slowly make modifications. When I was driving it i never really had any issues with the points. Also I had been warned to whack it with a hammer if they stick lol.
very interested in the radiator modification. I remember in the late 80's have a leak that the radiator repair shop couldn't fix and i had to braze it myself. It is probably still a weak link in the coolant system
