Default IRS Springs

I am currently working on the IRS from a 71 FHC.
The springs are rusty but certainly intact.
Can they be powder coated and reused or do they need to be replaced with the shocks?

Thanks
Jim

How does the car sit? And a 71 is it a 6 FHC or a V12 2+2?

That is a bit of a quandary. The car was partially disassembled in the early 80s to avoid siezure buy the tax folks. It then sat in a warehouse until last summer when I picked it up. The coils are rusty but could certainly be cleaned up and re-coated.
I also have a second IRS that was in the same warehouse. It is not an E-type but a newer version. There could be an opportunity to remove the springs from it as well.
So, lots of words to say that I don't know.

Edit
Sorry the car is a S2 4.2.

Remove the springs and set them on your bench. If they are the same height you can reuse them. De- Rust and powder coat them. Or if you don’t want to spend the money you can just spray can them and accept the finish won’t last as well.
Now check the shocks. Extend them fully and set a weight on them. How fast and evenly they settle determines if you can just repaint them and put them back on.

No you cannot use sedan springs on an EType. But you probably can use the shocks.
It’s a sedan if it’s much wider than the EType. If it has splined hubs and a little wider it’s a series 3 rear end.
