I have a 1970 XKE that I am painting, and I have completely disassembled the hood assembly and epoxy primed it. Is it proper to assemble the complete hood and then final paint it as a unit, or finish painting all the parts and then try to assemble it without scratching anything?

Do you want me to move your question from General Tech Help section to E-Type section?

You need advice from guys who have either done this (or had it done) specifically on an E-Type as the hood assembly is unlike any other Jaguar model.

If it were me, I'd paint all the parts separately, then assemble, and put on a final coat.

 

That's what I plan to do when I get to that point.
