Default A lock-down Coronavirus E-type yarn....true story

So I am stuck at home, and thought I’d share a true NZ E-type story....

There was a female Jaguar mechanic in NZ in the mid 20th century called Sybil Lupp.
she had a manual series III V12 E-type that she had apparently modified with 6 twin-choke Webers, and it could go.
Anyway, in the mid-late 80s, the NZ Traffic Officers has turbo Mitsubishi Sigmas, which were fairly quick in their day.
One day, in her arthritic retirement, Sybil was blasting along the Foxton Straights on an empty road, and was maxxing out the E-type. She saw the blue and red flashing lights, so pulled over.
The conversation went something like this...
“You were speeding”.
”Yes, but no-one was around except you, and you were hiding, so that’s hardly fair...”
”I clocked you at 270 km/h...”
”Well, the Speedo was off the clock, but I was doing 6,500rpm in 4th gear, about 170mph, yes that sounds about right. Anyway, you can’t give me a ticket, you we’re hiding and I couldn’t see you so it’s not a fair cop, I’m an old lady, see my arthritic hands, and disability parking permit, if I lose my licence I won’t be able to get my groceries...”

And he let her off!

Good story, but I think only a woman could get away with that conversation, at least here in the US. I'll contribute a similar story.
This happened in the mid 80s.
My wife was driving our 1968 FHC on the highway (I-95 between Daytona Beach and Palm Coast in Florida).
She was driving home from College classes and wearing her Nurse's uniform.
So, Eliani had and still has a led foot. She likes the sound of the straight 6 at full song. She was pulled over by a Highway Patrol, and the conversation as relaid to me by her went like this.
I have been following you for a couple of miles.
I am sorry officer.
Do you know why I pulled you over?
Officer, If I say yes I am admitting to it, If I say no I am admitting that I was not paying attention. What do you want me to say?
He stares at her for a moment and said "I want you to say that you are going to slow down. I clocked you doing 97 mph."
OK officer, I'll slow down.
Have a good day. Gave her a warning and that was it.
If I got stopped doing 97 mph and engaged the officer in the same manner, I would have been arrested for being a wise ***.
She had other unique experiences while driving the jag and wearing her nurse's uniform.

The car is now under restoration. The present virus lockdown is allowing me to spend a bit of extra time on the car.
Bill.
