And hi to you, etypo !

Make sure you do your homework about what to look for before buying and never, ever, buy off the internet without seeing the car itself and road testing it. There have been a lot of scams going on where people have sent money off, but the car never appears. Beware also of sellers referring to "escrow" and offer the facility for the money to be held whilst you collect the car. It usually means they have somebody else in the game who takes your money in "escrow" then disappears.

There's an interesting candidate over on bringatrailer.com. It's a 3.8 FHC but has a 5-speed upgrade.

Mike that does look interesting.....I think at 75k its a fair price for a #3 car?

Only 11 bids but 3 days to go.....I bet it hits 85-90k

Hagerty values a #3 at $69,300, and a #2 at $119,00. Seeing only the photos, I would guess this car is between a #3 and a #2, but closer to a #3 than a #2. But with E-Types, you never know...

The meteoric increase in E-Type prices seems to have halted sometime last winter, and for this year they have been almost flat. Maybe that's due to the general economic queasiness? After the 2013/2014 bubble, I'm hoping for flatness (tired of increasing my insurance premium) rather than collapse.

I agree Mike.....I give it a 3- or a 2+ depending on the paint. It may look worse in the pics than it really is. I think 75k is the max price for this car and thats where the bid is (2 days to go)
Id be in at 75k but not a whole lot more...

Congratulations! So you are Oengus on Fchat?!? (I'm over there as my same username here.)

Outstanding job. Great story on the car too, no doubt. Hope you'll report back with lots of pictures, driving impressions.

I am to finally pick mine up this weekend (Santa Fe Concorso) and am getting mighty itchy.

Any plans with the car? Detailing? Upgrades? Or just plain look at it and have fun?

Best wishes to you!

no initial plans.....having it shipped to my buddies shop who's a BIG Jag guy. I think Ill leave the car as is....maybe some wider rubber/wheels and certainly a thorough detail. She's gonna be a driver.

Sounds like an excellent plan of action, especially the driving part!

Nothing like slumming in an E-Type...
Long ago, I had a gorgeous Prugna/Tan Mondial 3.2 Coupe - nothing like that sound running up through the gears.
